You won’t find out you picked the wrong San Antonio agency at the pitch.
You’ll find out six weeks after launch, when the site loads slowly and your account manager stops replying. By then, the contract is signed and the deposit is spent.
It’s worse here. Cheap rent lets a two-person studio look like a forty-person firm, right down to the portfolio grid and the award badges. You can’t verify any of it in advance.
That’s why I stopped ranking agencies by reputation and scored them on data instead. Thirty-nine agencies, one rubric: client reviews, pricing transparency, years in business.
The numbers come from Clutch, DesignRush, G2, Glassdoor, Indeed, LinkedIn,Google Business Profile Trustpilot, and SEMrush.
None of that depends on who ranks first on Google. Every agency looks good at the pitch. This list is about six weeks after launch.

Deep Dive: Full Agency Reviews
What each agency is good at, and where they may not be your fit.
1. Thrive Internet Marketing Agency: Best if you want one team handling web design alongside SEO, PPC, and social

- Website: thriveagency.com
- Minimum Project Cost: $1,000
- Average Client Satisfaction Rating: 4.53 (266 reviews)
- Team Size: 216 (LinkedIn)
- Years in Business: 21
- Monthly Website Visits: 676,936
- Employee Satisfaction Score: 4.70 (235 reviews)
Overview
Thrive works as one shop for web design, SEO, paid ads, and social media. Everything sits under one roof. I like that range for a business that doesn’t want five separate vendors.
The company actually started under a different name. It later rebranded to Thrive as the service list grew. That kind of pivot usually means a team outgrew its original focus.
The team works across several countries, not just one office. That’s unusual at this size. Recognition has followed too, including an Inc. 5000 spot and Telly Awards for video work.
One client, a tour operator, hired Thrive for a full site redesign. Leads went up after launch. The bounce rate dropped too, a solid proof point for the design side.
Contracts run month-to-month here, not a long lock-in. The starting price sits lower than you’d expect from an agency this size.
This fits you if one team should handle design alongside everything else marketing-related. If you want a pure web design specialist, look elsewhere on this list.
Core Services
- Custom WordPress web design and development
- Conversion-focused site redesigns and UX optimization
- Search engine optimization (technical, local, and content-driven)
- Paid advertising (PPC, Amazon, social)
- Email marketing and content writing
Why They Rank #1
- Monthly traffic dwarfs every other agency on this list, real proof of market reach.
- A team this size can run several client projects in parallel without one project stalling the others.
- Two decades in business gives them a longer track record than most agencies in this batch.
- Web design is a smaller part of a much bigger marketing operation here, not the core specialty.
- If you want design, SEO, and paid ads under one roof, the scale is here.
Snapshot of Client Reviews
The website and development work draws the strongest praise here, with reviewers calling out careful, detail-oriented execution. A few clients note the team needed real hand-holding to understand a niche industry at first. Responsiveness and account management come up often as strengths.
Our Take
If you want one team running your site, SEO, PPC, and social together, this is a strong pick. Skip it if you’re a solo founder on a tight budget who just needs a simple site fast.
2. SmartSites: Right for you if you want performance marketing with web design built in

- Website: smartsites.com
- Minimum Project Cost: $1,000
- Average Client Satisfaction Rating: 4.74 (1,717 reviews)
- Team Size: 306 (LinkedIn)
- Years in Business: 15
- Monthly Website Visits: 14,059
- Employee Satisfaction Score: 4.40 (97 reviews)
Overview
SmartSites leads as a performance-first digital marketing agency. Web design rides along as part of that bigger machine. I’d call this a marketing-first shop, not a design studio that added SEO later.
Two brothers built the company around a shared love of digital work. That origin still shows in how hands-on leadership stays.
The team holds a run of partner-level certifications. Repeat spots on national growth lists have followed too.
SmartSites is blunt about one thing. Most “web design” agencies just slap on a template and call it done. Their own site calls that out directly, then promises something built from scratch.
A hospitality and architecture client hired the team for SEO and a full web overhaul. That included competitor research and a technical audit, real scope for a project like this.
Reach extends well past one region. The client roster spans the country. Right for you if web design is one piece of a bigger marketing push. If web design is the whole job, a smaller specialist probably serves you better.
Core Services
- Custom website design and development (no templates)
- WordPress design and custom CMS development
- Search engine optimization and paid search (Google Premier Partner)
- Ecommerce and CRM integration
- Email and SMS marketing
Why They Rank #2
- The review base here is the deepest on this list, so the rating is backed by real volume.
- Traffic is nowhere near what the top spot pulls in, the main thing keeping them out of first.
- Web design carries more weight in their business than it does for the agency ranked above them.
- Employee satisfaction is the softest number in this group, worth a look if team turnover matters to you.
- A high review volume and a strong cost rating make this a safer bet before you sign.
Snapshot of Client Reviews
Over a thousand five-star reviews sit behind this agency. The pattern holds steady: seamless builds, fast turnaround, real conversions. A few reviewers single out specific project managers by name for keeping communication tight throughout.
Our Take
This fits a growth-stage business that wants performance marketing with web design bundled in, not a standalone build. If design itself is the priority and marketing can wait, a design-first studio will likely serve you better.
3. Sharkmatic Advertising: The fit if you want three decades of real San Antonio relationships behind your site

- Website: sharkmatic.com
- Minimum Project Cost: $5,000
- Average Client Satisfaction Rating: 5.00 (72 reviews)
- Team Size: 6 (LinkedIn)
- Years in Business: 36
- Monthly Website Visits: 391
- Employee Satisfaction Score: 4.00 (15 reviews)
Overview
Sharkmatic runs as a full digital shop, covering web design, SEO, and social media under one roof. I’d call the range broad for a team this size.
The company started as a traditional advertising firm. It grew into today’s full digital shop over time. That kind of evolution means real experience, not padding.
President Howie Nestel serves on nonprofit boards across San Antonio. The company still runs a charity drive he started years ago. You can feel that community focus in how the team talks about clients.
One longtime client put it plainly. They credited the team’s grasp of San Antonio’s Latino community and hyper-local detail. National brands can’t match that kind of local knowledge.
The client list includes a car wash chain with locations across San Antonio. It also includes a Fortune 500 technology company that’s stuck around for years. A local nonprofit tied to one of San Antonio’s landmarks rounds out the list.
Sharkmatic’s stated goal is measurable growth, not vanity metrics. The fit if you want a shop that’s spent decades inside San Antonio. If you’re after a national brand name instead, this isn’t that.
Core Services
- Custom and WordPress website design
- Responsive design, UX/UI
- Branding and logo design
- Local and technical SEO
- Social media, email marketing, print and video production
Why They Rank #3
- Longest track record of anyone in this batch, more than three decades in the market.
- A perfect client rating carries less weight with a few dozen reviews than SmartSites’ thousand-plus.
- Team size here is the smallest in this batch, which caps how many projects can run at once.
- Hourly rate is the lowest of these five, real if your project bills by the hour.
- Monthly traffic trails the rest of this batch, a sign their growth still runs on referrals.
Snapshot of Client Reviews
One thread runs through nearly every review here: trust built over years, not a single project. Clients describe a team that saved a stalled website after a previous vendor abandoned it. Repeat relationships are common here.
Our Take
Choose this if deep, long-term local relationships matter more to you than a national brand name. Skip it if you need a large team that can turn around several complex builds at once.
4. Logo Poppin: Good for a fast, affordable logo and starter site, not a deep web build

- Website: logopoppin.com
- Minimum Project Cost: $1,000
- Average Client Satisfaction Rating: 4.80 (56 reviews)
- Team Size: 500 (LinkedIn)
- Years in Business: 6
- Monthly Website Visits: 20,966
- Employee Satisfaction Score: N/A
Overview
Logo Poppin covers logos, branding, web design, video, and multimedia under one roof. I’d call this a brand-identity shop first, with web design as one service among several.
You’ll find client work spanning small businesses building a first brand from scratch. That includes a fashion label’s logo and a startup’s first website. One insurance agency owner left a direct testimonial crediting the team with a logo built exactly to spec.
This isn’t a single boutique studio working out of one office. The operation runs across multiple locations. That explains the broader capacity, but also a less personal feel than some smaller local shops.
Feedback on the design side has been mixed in places. Some clients note the website work feels less polished than the logo work. That’s worth knowing if a complex, custom build is the goal.
Good for you if a fast, affordable logo or a simple starter site is the job. If the website itself needs real technical weight, weigh this against the more web-focused names on this list.
Core Services
- Logo design and brand identity
- Website design and development
- Branding collateral (business cards, stationery)
- Video animation and multimedia
- Graphic design
Why They Rank #4
- Traffic here is the second-highest in this batch, trailing only the top spot.
- Years in business is the shortest track record of these five by a wide margin.
- Team size is the largest headcount in this batch, though scale alone hasn’t carried them further.
- Web design is a smaller slice of a broader logo-and-branding operation here.
Snapshot of Client Reviews
Reviews split more than most on this list. Logo work draws genuine enthusiasm, with clients praising fast turnaround and patient revisions. Website feedback runs cooler, with one reviewer flagging generic elements in a design meant to be original.
Our Take
Good for a startup that needs a logo and a simple site fast and cheap. Skip it if the website is the main event and needs to carry real technical weight.
5. Funnel Boost Media: The fit if you want SEO, GEO, and web design working as one connected funnel

- Website: funnelboostmedia.net
- Minimum Project Cost: $1,000
- Average Client Satisfaction Rating: 4.58 (442 reviews)
- Team Size: 46 (LinkedIn)
- Years in Business: 15
- Monthly Website Visits: 2,383
- Employee Satisfaction Score: 4.60 (11 reviews)
Overview
Funnel Boost Media refuses to sell SEO, PPC, and web design as separate channels. Everything here gets built as one connected funnel instead of three vendors working alone.
The company is veteran-owned. That background shows up in how the team talks about accountability and discipline. Campaigns run across the country, not just nearby, even though the operation stays lean.
A San Antonio dermatology practice hired the team for a site redesign paired with local SEO. Organic engagement and conversions both moved in the right direction afterward. A law firm and a pediatric therapy practice round out the client list.
I’d flag that most of the proof here leans on search results, not design awards. That fits a team that treats the website as one piece of a bigger growth engine.
The fit if you want SEO and web design working toward one goal, not two separate bills. If you want a pure design studio, this isn’t built that way.
Core Services
- Conversion-focused custom web design
- Local SEO and GEO (generative engine optimization for AI search)
- PPC advertising
- Social media management
- Conversion rate optimization
Why They Rank #5
- Review volume here is the second-deepest in this batch, trailing only SmartSites.
- Traffic trails most of this batch, the main thing holding them below the agencies above.
- Employee satisfaction looks solid, but the sample behind it is thin, just eleven reviews.
- Hourly rate sits at the low end of this batch, real if your project bills hourly.
- Fifteen years in business beats half this batch, useful context for a team this size.
Snapshot of Client Reviews
A specific project manager gets named again and again, credited with keeping clients informed without them chasing updates. The tone across reviews stays consistently practical: steady communication over flashy promises.
Our Take
A strong fit for a local business that wants SEO and web design working toward one lead-generation goal. Skip it if you want a design-led studio focused purely on visual craft over conversion numbers.
6. UPQODE: A fit if you want full transparency into your project from day one

- Website: upqode.com
- Minimum Project Cost: $5,000
- Average Client Satisfaction Rating: 4.93 (148 reviews)
- Team Size: 48 (LinkedIn)
- Years in Business: 11
- Monthly Website Visits: 5,049
- Employee Satisfaction Score: 4.80 (4 reviews)
Overview
UPQODE runs as a hybrid team, spanning more than one country. I like that setup for combining US-facing strategy with hands-on technical build work.
The company actually grew out of a university programming project. Founder Nicolae Pasecinic built it into today’s agency from there. The team still calls itself a family, built on transparency and trust.
UPQODE runs what it calls a Day 0 policy. You get full access to design files and code from the very start, not just at handoff.
One architecture and interior design client hired the team for a full site build, including an employee portal. Another client, an eyewear brand, went on to win international design awards after the partnership.
Reviewers single out something specific: the team is upfront when a request isn’t realistic for the timeline. That kind of honesty is rarer than it should be in this industry.
A fit if you want full transparency into your project from day one. If you’d rather not manage a team spread across time zones, a local shop might suit you better.
Core Services
- Custom WordPress, Shopify, and Webflow development
- Corporate and small business web design
- SEO and PPC digital marketing
- Ecommerce development
- UI/UX design and quality assurance testing
Why They Rank #6
- Client rating here is the highest of any agency in this batch, a real signal of consistent satisfaction.
- Traffic trails several agencies in this batch, the main thing holding this position back.
- Minimum project cost is among the highest here, a real barrier if budget is the top constraint.
- Web design carries real weight in their business, more than most agencies ranked above them.
- Employee satisfaction looks excellent, though the sample behind it is thin, just a handful of reviews.
Snapshot of Client Reviews
Honesty comes up unprompted in review after review, clients noting the team says no when something isn’t realistic rather than overselling. Project management and weekly check-ins get consistent praise. A few reviewers mention the international team setup as an adjustment early on.
Our Take
This fits a business that wants full visibility and doesn’t mind a team spread across countries. Skip it if you’d rather work with a single local point of contact you can meet in person.
7. Bless Web Designs: Good for you if half your budget conversation should go to web design specifically

- Website: blesswebdesigns.com
- Minimum Project Cost: $1,000
- Average Client Satisfaction Rating: 4.58 (45 reviews)
- Team Size: 11 (LinkedIn)
- Years in Business: 14
- Monthly Website Visits: 2,235
- Employee Satisfaction Score: 5.00 (1 review)
Overview
Bless Web Designs builds every site from scratch. No templates, no shortcuts. I’d call that a meaningful chunk of their business, more than most on this list.
The company started small and grew steadily from there. A decade-plus later, it’s become a focused digital marketing leader in its region.
Reviewers consistently name a specific contact, praised for professionalism and attention to detail. That kind of consistency across reviews usually means real process, not luck.
A Dallas manufacturer hired the team to restructure a confusing site into something navigable. A steel-buildings company and an investigation firm both cite faster, cleaner lead flow after their redesigns.
This isn’t a single-office operation. The team works across several offices in its home region, which explains the broader capacity.
Good for you if half your project budget should go toward web design specifically, not a side service. If you want an agency where design is a minor add-on to something bigger, look elsewhere.
Core Services
- Custom website design and development (no templates)
- Local search engine optimization and Google Ads management
- Branding and brand identity strategy
- Content marketing and social media marketing
- Email marketing
Why They Rank #7
- Web design makes up more of this agency’s business than any other agency in this batch.
- Review volume is thinner than most others here, so that rating carries less weight than a deeper sample would.
- Team size is among the smallest in this batch, a real cap on how many projects can run at once.
- Employee satisfaction is a perfect score, but it’s built on a single review, worth noting rather than leaning on.
- Entry pricing here is the most accessible in this batch, a real plus if the budget is tight.
Snapshot of Client Reviews
Professionalism anchors almost every review here, usually tied to one specific team contact by name. Clients describe smooth, deadline-driven projects with real collaboration on branding decisions. The review pool stays fairly small, so a handful of detailed accounts carry most of the weight.
Our Take
A strong pick if web design specifically, not a bundled marketing package, is the priority. Skip it if you want a bigger team with deep bench strength for a complex, multi-phase project.
8. Agency Partner Interactive: Right for you if you want one proprietary system running strategy, design, and growth together

- Website: agencypartner.com
- Minimum Project Cost: $5,000
- Average Client Satisfaction Rating: 4.70 (69 reviews)
- Team Size: 57 (LinkedIn)
- Years in Business: 16
- Monthly Website Visits: 501
- Employee Satisfaction Score: 3.40 (30 reviews)
Overview
Agency Partner Interactive runs on one proprietary system covering strategy, design, and ongoing growth. I’d call that a genuine attempt at replacing a pile of separate vendors with one team.
The company actually built itself as a distributed team from the start. That was unusual when it launched, and it’s shaped how the business runs since.
That distributed model keeps overhead lower than a typical office-based agency. The savings get passed along in lower project pricing.
One client, a logistics company, called the outcome the most professional site launch of their career. Another client, an insurance and finance firm, has stayed with the team for years.
Recognition has followed too, including an Inc. 5000 spot and a nod from the US House of Representatives. I’d flag one thing: a past review mentions a slow, hard-to-navigate backend on one project.
Right for you if you want one system running strategy, design, and growth together. If a lean, boutique feel matters more, weigh the smaller shops on this list too.
Core Services
- Custom web design and web development
- Mobile and web application development
- SEO, PPC, and digital marketing
- Social media marketing
- Email marketing automation
Why They Rank #8
- Team size here is among the largest in this batch, real bench depth for bigger builds.
- Employee satisfaction is the softest number in this entire batch, worth a look if turnover matters.
- That employee score is backed by a real sample, not just one or two reviews.
- Traffic is the lowest of these five, a sign their growth still leans on referrals over search visibility.
- Sixteen years in business is the longest track record in this batch.
Snapshot of Client Reviews
Recent reviews lean strongly positive, praising fast delivery and proactive updates on SEO and traffic results. Older feedback tells a rougher story, including one account of a slow site with a cluttered backend. The gap between recent and older reviews is wide enough to be worth noting.
Our Take
Good for a business that wants one integrated system handling strategy, design, and growth long-term. Weigh the mixed employee feedback if a stable, long-term point of contact matters to you.
9. Creative Web Designs: The fit if you want a true San Antonio shop that knows the Hill Country towns too

- Website: creativewebs2u.com
- Minimum Project Cost: $5,000
- Average Client Satisfaction Rating: 5.00 (54 reviews)
- Team Size: 7 (LinkedIn)
- Years in Business: 16
- Monthly Website Visits: 773
- Employee Satisfaction Score: 4.00 (1 review)
Overview
Creative Web Designs serves San Antonio and the Hill Country towns around it, not just the city itself. I like that broader footprint for a shop this size.
The company started as a boutique studio. SEO and fuller marketing services got added as the business grew.
Founder Cindi Martin gets named directly in nearly every client review. That kind of consistency is rare and usually means the founder still does the work herself.
Client work spans a jewelry business, a workforce staffing company, and a small business space provider. Each left a testimonial crediting Cindi personally for responsiveness and attention to detail.
Contracts run month-to-month, and clients own every deliverable outright. There’s no lock-in and no hidden terms, a real point of difference among agencies at this price point.
The fit if you want a true local shop that knows the towns around San Antonio too. If you need a large team for a complex build, look at the bigger shops instead.
Core Services
- Custom WordPress website design
- Local search engine optimization and AI-search optimization
- PPC advertising
- Social media marketing
- Graphic design and branding collateral
Why They Rank #9
- A perfect client rating here matches the top score in this batch, though the review count is modest.
- Team size is among the smallest in this batch, which caps how many projects can run in parallel.
- Web design carries real weight in their business, more than most agencies in this batch.
- Employee satisfaction is based on a single review, too thin to lean on either way.
- Minimum project cost sits at the higher end here, worth weighing against the smaller local names.
Snapshot of Client Reviews
Nearly every review mentions the founder by first name, a rare pattern this consistent. Responsiveness and attention to detail dominate the praise, with clients describing a personal, hands-on process. The review count stays modest, typical for a shop this size.
Our Take
A strong choice for a San Antonio-area business that wants a founder-led, personal relationship over a big-team feel. Skip it if the project needs a large team working in parallel.
10. Divining Point: Good for a business that wants a boutique, relationship-first partner over a high-volume shop

- Website: diviningpoint.com
- Minimum Project Cost: $10,000
- Average Client Satisfaction Rating: 5.00 (14 reviews)
- Team Size: 4 (LinkedIn)
- Years in Business: 13
- Monthly Website Visits: 66
- Employee Satisfaction Score: 5.00 (4 reviews)
Overview
Divining Point runs as a small, boutique team. I’d call the range broad for a shop this size, spanning construction to healthcare to SaaS clients.
The company launched veteran-owned from the start. CEO Coy West still leads the team today. Divining Point positions itself directly against one-size-fits-all agencies. The pitch is blunt: too many agencies overpromise, then leave clients feeling ignored.
One client, a digital product agency, walked a Clutch analyst through the entire engagement on record. A separate mid-sized client praises the team for handling design, video, and hosting together, not as separate bills.
Recognition has followed, including a past Top Web Design Company nod and a Clutch marketing agency honor.
Good for you if a relationship-first partner matters more than a high-volume shop. If the budget is tight, the entry price here runs higher than most others on this list.
Core Services
- Custom web design and web development
- Branding and digital strategy
- Content marketing
- Digital advertising and campaign management
- Video production and graphic design
Why They Rank #10
- Minimum project cost is the highest in this batch, the clearest barrier keeping this position where it sits.
- A perfect client rating matches the best in this batch, though the sample stays the smallest here too.
- Team size is the smallest in this whole batch, a real cap on parallel work.
- Hourly rate sits at the premium end of this batch, real if quality matters more than volume.
- Traffic is the lowest yet on this list, the clearest sign their growth runs on relationships, not search.
Snapshot of Client Reviews
Depth over volume defines the feedback here, only a handful of reviews but real detail each time. Clients describe a strategic partner handling far more than just the website, from video to hosting. One detailed, on-record interview carries unusual weight for a shop this small.
Our Take
Good for a mid-sized business that wants a strategic partner across design, video, and hosting, not separate vendors. Skip it if the entry price here doesn’t fit a tight first-time budget.
11. Fahrenheit Marketing: The fit if recognizable brand-name experience matters more to you than a bargain price

- Website: fahrenheitmarketing.com
- Minimum Project Cost: $10,000
- Average Client Satisfaction Rating: 4.95 (105 reviews)
- Team Size: 35 (LinkedIn)
- Years in Business: 18
- Monthly Website Visits: 557
- Employee Satisfaction Score: 4.50 (22 reviews)
Overview
Fahrenheit works with genuinely recognizable brands. I don’t say that lightly, since most agencies stretch the word “recognizable.”
This team’s client list includes PepsiCo, Gatorade, QuikTrip, and CITGO. TransCore and a national nonprofit foundation round out the roster.
The founder started the company right as a financial crisis hit. It was profitable from day one, an unusual start for any agency.
Founder Ricardo Casas sits on the Forbes Agency Council today. Average tenure on the team runs well over a decade, rare in this industry.
There are no long-term contracts here, ever. Senior strategists handle accounts directly, not junior staff learning on your dime.
The fit of recognizable brand-name experience matters more to you than a bargain price. If your budget is tight, the entry cost here is the highest on this list.
Core Services
- Web design and web development
- SEO and content strategy
- Paid search (PPC) and social media
- Conversion rate optimization (CRO)
- Marketing automation and custom software development
Why They Rank #11
- Client rating here is among the highest across this entire project, backed by a real sample of reviews.
- Minimum project cost is the highest researched so far, the clearest barrier keeping this position where it sits.
- Hourly rate also sits at the top of the range, real if budget is the deciding factor.
- Eighteen years in business lands mid-pack against the longer-running shops on this list.
- Traffic trails several agencies ranked higher, a sign their growth leans on referrals over search visibility.
Snapshot of Client Reviews
Enterprise-level clients show up consistently, with reviewers noting a level of polish usually reserved for bigger retainers. A few mention the price tag upfront as a real consideration. The overall tone stays confident rather than apologetic.
Our Take
Good for a business that wants agency-level polish, senior talent, and real brand-name experience behind the work. Skip it if your budget can’t stretch past a premium, top-tier entry price.
12. Left Hand Design: Good for you if branding and logo work matter more than the website itself

- Website: lefthd.com
- Minimum Project Cost: $1,000
- Average Client Satisfaction Rating: 4.93 (130 reviews)
- Team Size: 23 (LinkedIn)
- Years in Business: 22
- Monthly Website Visits: 436
- Employee Satisfaction Score: 3.70 (3 reviews)
Overview
Left Hand Design leads with logo work, not web design. I’d call logo design their bread and butter, with everything else built around it.
The company started as a family business. Owner Beau Morrow has designed for Fortune 500 brands over the years. His brother Paul runs project management day to day.
One client hired them for a logo and style guide when launching a consulting brand. Another already had an in-house web team and used Left Hand Design for branding only.
This is a small studio, but the client list stretches well past one city. Most projects happen remotely, start to finish.
Good for you if branding and logo work matter more than the website itself. If the website is the main event, look at the web-first names on this list instead.
Core Services
- Logo design and brand identity
- Website design and development
- Packaging design
- Print and environmental design
- Brand guideline development
Why They Rank #12
- Twenty-two years in business is one of the longest track records in this batch.
- Client rating here nearly matches the top scores on this list, backed by real review volume.
- Team size is among the smallest researched so far, a real cap on parallel projects.
- Web design carries less weight in their business than logo and branding work does.
- Employee satisfaction is the softest number here, though it rests on just a few reviews.
Snapshot of Client Reviews
The founder gets credited by name in review after review, often with a note about patience through revisions. Logo and branding work draws the strongest praise. Website feedback is scarcer, simply because fewer clients use them for that specific service.
Our Take
A strong pick for a business that needs a logo or full brand identity built right, not rushed. Skip it if the website itself needs to be the main deliverable.
13. Digital Success: Right for you if a flexible, budget-first relationship matters more than a fixed package

- Website: digitalsuccess.us
- Minimum Project Cost: $1,000
- Average Client Satisfaction Rating: 4.57 (18 reviews)
- Team Size: 10 (LinkedIn)
- Years in Business: 27
- Monthly Website Visits: 4,678
- Employee Satisfaction Score: 3.00 (1 review)
Overview
Digital Success has been around longer than most agencies on this list. I’d call that longevity itself a kind of proof.
The company started small and has stuck around through several eras of digital marketing since. One thing stands out about how they work.
You set the marketing budget your business can actually afford, and they work within it. That’s different from a fixed package that may not fit your situation.
One client relationship stretches back roughly two decades, with steady praise for enthusiasm and professionalism the whole way.
This web design company focuses specifically on small and mid-sized local businesses. Right for you if a flexible, budget-first relationship matters more than a fixed package. If you want a boutique, web-design-first specialist instead, look further down this list.
Core Services
- Website design and development
- Search engine optimization and local SEO
- Paid media (Google, Bing, Facebook, Instagram)
- Social media marketing
- Conversion optimization and web analytics
Why They Rank #13
- Traffic here is the highest of any agency researched in this batch, a real signal of visibility.
- Review volume is thin for an agency with this much history, the main gap holding this spot back.
- Employee satisfaction rests on a single review, too thin to draw a real conclusion either way.
- Entry pricing here is among the most accessible in this batch.
- Twenty-seven years in business is the longest track record researched in this project so far.
Snapshot of Client Reviews
Longevity shows up in the reviews themselves, with one client referencing a relationship spanning close to two decades. The tone across reviews stays steady and low-drama, more workmanlike than effusive. Review volume stays modest for an agency with this much history.
Our Take
Right for a small or mid-sized business that wants to name its own budget and work within it. Skip it if you want a specialist with a tight, singular focus on web design.
14. Level Nine Media: Best if you want a true web design specialist, not a broader marketing shop

- Website: levelninemedia.com
- Minimum Project Cost: $1,000
- Average Client Satisfaction Rating: 4.37 (29 reviews)
- Team Size: 4 (LinkedIn)
- Years in Business: 19
- Monthly Website Visits: N/A
- Employee Satisfaction Score: N/A
Overview
Level Nine Media does one thing: web design. I like that focus, especially compared to the broader marketing shops elsewhere on this list.
The company has spent close to two decades building websites for local businesses.
Owner Rob Gray still works directly with clients himself. Testimonial after testimonial names him specifically, describing him walking people through the entire process personally. That kind of hands-on ownership is rare once a shop reaches a certain size.
The approach here is conversion-first, not just visually driven. Every site gets built around SEO and the customer journey from the start.
The client base runs across a wide service area and beyond. Best if you want a true web design specialist, not a broader marketing shop. If you also need SEO, PPC, and social media under one roof, look elsewhere on this list.
Core Services
- Custom website design and development
- SEO-focused site architecture
- Ecommerce (Shopify) development
- Branding and logo design
- Amazon and Walmart marketplace support
Why They Rank #14
- Client rating here is the softest of this batch, though still solidly positive.
- Team size is among the smallest researched in this project, a real cap on parallel projects.
- Web design is this agency’s entire focus, unlike almost every other name on this list.
- Nineteen years in business is a longer track record than most agencies ranked above it.
Snapshot of Client Reviews
Every review circles back to one person, praised for patience and teaching over just handing off a product. Lead generation results get mentioned often, sometimes in specific numbers. This reads like a shop where the owner still does the work himself.
Our Take
A strong fit for a business that wants a true web design specialist and nothing else bundled in. Skip it if SEO, PPC, and social all need to live under one roof.
15. Helix Media: A fit if you want a small, fast-moving local shop for a straightforward project

- Website: helixmediafx.com
- Minimum Project Cost: $1,000
- Average Client Satisfaction Rating: 5.00 (2 reviews)
- Team Size: 2 (LinkedIn)
- Years in Business: 8
- Monthly Website Visits: 7
- Employee Satisfaction Score: 5.00 (1 review)
Overview
Helix Media is the smallest, newest shop in this whole ranking. I still like what I’ve seen from their work.
The company launched only recently as one of the newer local players. Nathan Hovatter runs it as the managing member.
One offer stands out: a same-day “flash project” turnaround. The design philosophy leans on simplicity, not decoration for its own sake.
A bar and lounge client used the flash option for a full site launch. A separate campaign client praised a site that worked flawlessly, drawing inquiries well after launch.
A fit if you want a small, fast-moving local shop for a straightforward project. If you need a large team for a complex, multi-phase build, look elsewhere on this list.
Core Services
- Web design and web development
- Video and photo production
- Digital marketing
- Digital design (graphics, branding)
- Social media content
Why They Rank #15
- Team size ties for the smallest in this entire project.
- A perfect client rating sits on just two reviews, the thinnest sample of any agency researched so far.
- Traffic is the lowest researched in this batch, expected for a shop this new.
- Eight years in business is the shortest track record here, though not unusual for a young local shop.
Snapshot of Client Reviews
There isn’t much of a review history to draw from yet, just a couple of accounts so far. What’s there is enthusiastic, praising fast turnaround and creative range across photo, video, and web. Take the thin sample size into account before leaning on it too heavily.
Our Take
Good for a small, fast-moving project where a quick turnaround matters more than a long track record. Skip it if you need proof from a deep history of client work first.
16. Pear Analytics: A strong choice if direct access to senior strategists and full data ownership matter to you

- Website: pearanalytics.com
- Minimum Project Cost: $1,000
- Average Client Satisfaction Rating: 5.00 (14 reviews)
- Team Size: 7 (LinkedIn)
- Years in Business: 18
- Monthly Website Visits: 380
- Employee Satisfaction Score: 4.70 (6 reviews)
Overview
Pear Analytics runs on four stated rules. No contracts, no junior staff, clients own their data, and direct access to the people doing the work.
The company started as a boutique shop and has stayed that size on purpose.
One strategist, Ryan, gets named directly in testimonial after testimonial. I take that as a good sign of real continuity. The team has also picked up a local “Best Places to Work” honor.
A law firm has stuck with the team for three years across SEO, PPC, and web work. A UK telecom client hired them to build a B2B lead-generation tool from scratch.
One standout project rebuilt the ecommerce site for San Antonio’s own Fiesta Celebration in a matter of weeks. The site now handles heavy seasonal traffic without breaking.
The team is based in San Antonio, though staff work remotely across the country. A strong choice if direct access to senior strategists and full data ownership matter to you. If you want the biggest possible team for a complex build, look higher up this list instead.
Core Services
- Search engine optimization (SEO) and pay-per-click (PPC)
- Custom WordPress website design
- Conversion rate optimization
- Advanced marketing analytics and custom dashboards
- Lead generation strategy
Why They Rank #16
- A perfect client rating matches the best scores across this whole project, though the review count stays modest.
- Team size is among the smallest researched across this entire project, a real cap on parallel work.
- Eighteen years in business puts them ahead of half the agencies researched here.
- Web design carries less weight in their business than SEO, PPC, and analytics do.
- Traffic sits on the lower end of this project, the clearest reason this position lands where it does.
Snapshot of Client Reviews
Direct access comes up again and again, clients noting they talk to the strategist, not a relay. Long-term relationships are common here, with several reviewers mentioning years of continued work. The tone stays practical throughout, more results-focused than warm.
Our Take
A strong choice for a business that wants senior-level attention and full ownership of its own data. Skip it if scale matters more than access, since this stays small rather than expanding for bigger builds.
Disclosure: Our recommendations include both locally headquartered agencies and offshore firms that provide services in this region. Some agencies featured do not maintain a physical office here but have an established track record of delivering services to clients in the area.
How to Compare Web Design Agency Options
Every San Antonio agency pitches itself as the right fit. Here’s what actually separates a good choice from a costly one.
Portfolio Evaluation
Pull up a web design company’s recent work on your phone. Click past the homepage into an actual interior page. If it loads slowly or looks unfinished, that’s your answer. A portfolio built entirely of homepage screenshots is hiding something.
Pricing Transparency
Check our cost calculator before you ask for quotes. A vague answer here usually means a vague contract later. You want line items, not a single lump figure with no breakdown. If they dodge the question twice, that’s the pattern you’ll get after signing too.
SEO Capability
Ask how they handle local San Antonio search, not just design. A site that looks great but never ranks won’t bring you customers.
Ask what they’d do differently for a business that depends on search engine visibility. If they can’t answer past “we do SEO too,” keep looking.
Communication
Ask how they handle a missed deadline before you sign anything. That answer tells you more than any pitch deck will. You want a single point of contact, not a rotating cast of account managers. If getting a straight answer feels hard now, it won’t get easier later.
Scalability
Ask what happens if your site traffic doubles next year. Some agencies build for where you are today and stop there. You want a partner who plans for growth, not just a launch date. Find out if they’ve handled a client that outgrew its first site.
Local Expertise
San Antonio, Texas isn’t one market. It’s several. An agency that only knows downtown may miss what matters near the Medical Center or Port San Antonio.
Ask which neighborhoods and industries they’ve actually worked in. A generic pitch that could apply to any city is a sign they haven’t.
Red Flags to Watch for When Hiring a Web Design Agency
Most bad hires trace back to skipping one of these steps. Here’s where San Antonio web design buyers get burned most often.
Choosing on Price Alone
The cheapest quote often comes from a shop juggling too many clients. Family-owned businesses feel this pressure most, since every dollar matters.
A low price with no clear scope usually means corners get cut later. Ask what’s excluded, not just what’s included, and compare it against typical website design costs.
Ignoring Local SEO
A beautiful site that never shows up in search is a wasted budget. Businesses without a claimed, optimized Google Business Profile rarely surface for local searches.
Ask whether local SEO is included or sold as an expensive add-on later. If they can’t explain it, they’re not the right fit.
Skipping the Portfolio Review
Plenty of local sites still look copied from a generic template. That’s what happens when nobody checks a web design company’s actual work first.
Click through more than the homepage before you decide. If every project in their portfolio looks the same, ask why.
Not Checking Review Recency
A perfect rating from years ago doesn’t tell you much today. Review volume and recency matter more than the number itself for local visibility.
Check when the last handful of reviews came in, not just the average. A stale review profile is often the first sign a web design company slowed down.
Overlooking Mobile
Most San Antonio searches happen on a phone, not a desktop. A site that looks great on a laptop but breaks on mobile costs the sale.
Test it yourself on your own phone before you sign anything. An agency that skips mobile testing isn’t building for how people search in San Antonio.
No Plan for What Happens After Launch
Plenty of local business owners don’t hold their domain or hosting login. A relative or a past designer set it up, and nobody wrote it down.
Ask for your credentials in writing before the project starts. Without them, you can’t leave even if an ongoing website maintenance relationship goes bad.
Assuming Bilingual Doesn’t Matter
A meaningful share of local San Antonio searches carry Spanish-language intent. If your customers are bilingual, your site probably should be too.
Ask early whether Spanish is a real option, not an afterthought. Most agencies never bring it up unless you ask first.
Skipping the Accessibility Question
Accessibility rarely comes up unless you ask about it directly. A site that fails basic accessibility standards can create real legal exposure.
Ask what accessibility standard they build to, not just whether the site “looks fine.” If they’ve never heard the term WCAG, that’s worth knowing before you sign.
Ready to Choose a Web Design Agency?
You’ve seen the full range here, from full-service shops to narrow specialists, and everything between. Pick based on what your San Antonio business actually needs, not just the top score.
Go back to the profiles that matched your budget and your situation. Check the ceiling bullets under Why They Rank before you commit to anything.
E-commerce is still underbuilt among local retailers and restaurants relative to the size of this Texas market. That gap is an opportunity, whether you’re the one building the site or the one hiring for it.
Whoever you choose in San Antonio, ask the questions from the How to Choose section first. A good agency will answer them without flinching.
How We Score and Rank Each Agency
Why This Ranking Is Different
Most San Antonio agency roundups run on opinion, self-reported claims, or paid placement. This ranking works differently. Every agency here goes through the same scoring framework, no exceptions.
The list below covers web design agencies serving San Antonio, TX. Some are headquartered here. Others are national or offshore firms that serve the Texas market remotely. That’s why we don’t call every agency “in San Antonio.”
Physical location itself isn’t a ranking factor unless it’s explicitly built into the model. No San Antonio agency gets extra points just for being local. No agency paid for a spot on this list or a higher position.
We also dig into service pages, portfolios, case studies, and client work. That covers awards, partnerships, certifications, and technical expertise too.
None of it adds or subtracts points on its own. It only counts if it matches one of the weighted metrics below.
Where Your Data Comes From
We collected the data independently during 2026, not from agency submissions. SEMrush gives us an estimate of monthly website traffic for each agency. Clutch, DesignRush, G2, Google Business Profile, and Trustpilot supply client ratings and review counts.
Glassdoor and Indeed provide employee ratings and how many reviews back them. LinkedIn gives us each agency’s team size.
Agency websites and other public sources fill in services, pricing, hourly rates, minimum project size, and business history.
We also review service pages, portfolios, case studies, and other public materials. That confirms what each agency can actually do in web design and adds context to its profile.
Unless represented by one of the weighted metrics below, these qualitative findings do not affect the numerical score.
The Five Dimensions That Shape Your Rankings
Each agency is scored across five weighted areas. Positive categories add points, while pricing metrics subtract points for higher costs.
1. Web Design Focus & Value Assessment (20%)
This category measures how central web design is to an agency’s business. It also looks at how clients rate the value they received for the cost.
| Metric | Weight | How We Calculated It |
| Web Design Focus | 10% | Web design appeared as a core agency service |
| Client Rating for Cost | 10% | Average cost/value rating from selected review platforms |
Agencies benefit when web design is a real, meaningful part of their business. They also benefit when clients consistently say they got good value for what they paid. Portfolio quality, awards, and certifications don’t factor into this category.
2. Brand Authority (45%)
Brand Authority measures an agency’s visibility and scale in the market. It also looks at how long they’ve been operating.
| Metric | Weight | How We Calculated It |
| Website Traffic | 20% | Higher estimated SEMrush traffic contributed more points |
| LinkedIn Team Size | 15% | Larger teams contributed more points |
| Years in Business | 10% | Longer operating histories contributed more points |
These metrics show how visible an agency is and how much work it can take on. A bigger team or longer history doesn’t automatically mean better work. It just means more room to handle bigger jobs.
3. Client Satisfaction (30%)
Client Satisfaction combines rating quality with review volume. Both matter together, not on their own.
| Metric | Weight | How We Calculated It |
| Average Client Rating | 15% | Combined ratings from selected review platforms |
| Total Client Reviews | 15% | Greater review volume contributed more confidence to the score |
A high rating backed by many reviews carries more weight than the same rating from a handful. What clients actually say about their experience shows up later, in each agency’s Snapshot.
4. Employee Satisfaction (25%)
Employee sentiment gives us another signal of how stable a company is.
| Metric | Weight | How We Calculated It |
| Average Employee Rating | 10% | Average rating from Glassdoor and Indeed |
| Number of Employee Reviews | 15% | Greater review volume reduced the influence of very small samples |
Both the rating and how many employee reviews back it matter here. A single glowing review doesn’t carry the same weight as one backed by dozens.
5. Cost Accessibility Adjustment (-20%)
This is the only category that subtracts points instead of adding them. It looks at how well an agency’s pricing fits different budgets.
| Metric | Weight | How We Calculated It |
| Hourly Rate | -10% | Higher hourly rates received larger deductions |
| Minimum Project Cost | -10% | Higher entry costs reduced accessibility scores |
This doesn’t mean expensive agencies do worse work. It shows how many budgets an agency’s pricing actually fits. Combined, this can pull a real amount off an agency’s final score.
How the Final Score Works
Each metric gets scaled, weighted, and combined into a score out of 100. Positive metrics can add up to 120 points combined.
The Cost Accessibility Adjustment then deducts up to 20 points, based on hourly rate and minimum project cost.
No single metric decides an agency’s ranking. A larger agency might score well on traffic, team size, or years in business. A smaller shop might win on client satisfaction, employee satisfaction, or affordability instead.
Only the weighted metrics above affect where an agency lands. Awards, partnerships, certifications, and portfolio quality can still appear in a profile.
They just don’t move the score on their own. That’s what makes agencies of very different sizes and price points easy to compare on one scale.
Note: All rankings and scores are based solely on publicly available data collected at the time of publication. These rankings reflect the market landscape at the time of publication. Although individual metrics may change over time, the evaluation framework prioritizes long-term capability signals, making major ranking fluctuations unlikely.
