A new website feels like a big bet. You can’t judge the work until you’ve paid for it. That fear is normal, and it shapes how most people search.
Alabama web design agencies add a few layers to that search. No single city dominates the state, so you can’t just search one market.
Many lists also mix local studios with remote firms and never say which is which. That makes it hard to know who fits your project.
I evaluated 26 agencies using Clutch, DesignRush, G2, Glassdoor, Indeed, LinkedIn, Google Business Profile, Trustpilot, and SEMrush data.
Every agency gets the same scoring, so you can compare them on equal terms. Opinions and sales claims do not move the score.
Start with the ranking, then read the profiles that match your budget and goals. Each profile shows the data behind its rank.
That way, you check proof before you ever book a call.

Deep Dive: Inside Each Agency
Each profile draws on the agency’s own pages, client reviews, and public data.
1. Digital Silk — Best if You Want One Large Team for Design, Build, and Marketing

- Website: digitalsilk.com
- Minimum Project Cost: $10,000
- Average Client Satisfaction Rating: 4.12 (122 reviews)
- Team Size: 330 (LinkedIn)
- Years in Business: 7
- Monthly Website Visits: 40,946
- Employee Review Score: 3.40 (80 reviews)
Overview
Digital Silk’s portfolio leans hard into online stores. Glenwood Snacks moved from Squarespace to WooCommerce with them, and Absolute Dogs relaunched on Shopify. National Aviation got a store built around part-number shopping.
The agency’s outlook is that behind every brand sits a business, so the site should grow both. It sets baselines before launch, which lets you measure what changed afterward.
Pricing follows a clear pattern. Defined deliverables are fixed-fee, and payments are split into installments. Once you pay in full, you own the custom code and assets.
Beyond the build itself, the agency cites a Forbes listing among the best digital agencies. More recently, it has added an AI hub, plus search work aimed at AI answers.
I’d put Digital Silk on your list if you want one large team across design, build, and marketing. If your site is small, the scale may be more than you need.
Core Services
- Custom web design and development
- eCommerce design and development on Shopify Plus, Adobe Commerce, and WooCommerce
- Brand strategy and identity
- SEO and AI search optimization
- PPC, email, and social media marketing
Why They Rank #1
- Reach is what puts it on top. Its site draws about six times the traffic of the next agency, and its team is twice the size of the next largest.
- Web design makes up half its work, a bigger share than at all but three agencies here. Value for money is the soft spot, with clients rating it in the bottom handful of this list.
- Staff data is deep but mixed. It has the most employee reviews on the list, yet the score behind them is middling, which on long projects can mean staff changes along the way.
- The weakest scoring area is client satisfaction. Its rating is the lowest of all 26 agencies, and with this many reviews behind it, that’s a pattern, not a fluke.
Snapshot of Client Reviews
Praise centers on organized project management and steady updates, with sites described as clean and user-friendly. The complaints are timeline overruns and weak launch handoffs on a few projects. One reviewer described a build that ended early over quality and billing disputes.
Our Take
A good call for a mid-market retailer or healthcare brand that wants strategy, build, and marketing together. A poor call for a small brochure site. Whatever you build, ask how they hold schedules, since overruns are the recurring complaint.
2. Creole Studios — Worth a Look if Your Project Is Closer to Software Than a Brochure Site

- Website: creolestudios.com
- Minimum Project Cost: $10,000
- Average Client Satisfaction Rating: 4.90 (40 reviews)
- Team Size: 63 (LinkedIn)
- Years in Business: 12
- Monthly Website Visits: 5,669
- Employee Review Score: 4.10 (75 reviews)
Overview
Creole Studios offers several ways to buy its time. You can hire it per project, as a dedicated team, or on time and materials. The site says most clients come back for more work.
It promises an NDA up front, which matters if your idea isn’t public yet. Discovery comes next, followed by a proposal with scope, timeline, and cost.
The agency says it was born from the ambitions of a small founding group. CEO Anant Jain now leads it, with separate directors for mobile and for web and cloud.
Its newest push is AI. It builds AI agents and voice assistants, such as a phone agent for a contractor client. A founder newsletter shares its model comparisons.
I’d consider Creole Studios if you’re building a web product with real logic behind it. For a plain brochure site, it’s more engineering than you need.
Core Services
- UI/UX and website design
- Web and WordPress development, including eCommerce
- Custom software, MVP, and SaaS development
- AI agent and generative AI development
- Cloud, DevOps, and dedicated team staffing
Why They Rank #2
- Its hourly rate is the lowest on the list, so revisions and add-ons cost far less here than at the agencies around it.
- Only two agencies draw more traffic, and only three have bigger teams. That is real reach for a firm this lean.
- Staff data is deeper than at almost any agency here. It has the second-most employee reviews, and the score behind them is solid.
- Web design is its weakest scored area, tied for the smallest share on the list. That, plus roughly a seventh of the leader’s traffic, is what keeps it below #1.
Snapshot of Client Reviews
Time zones are the most common snag in Creole Studios’ reviews, along with some early scope misunderstandings. Fast replies, met deadlines, and fair pricing dominate the praise, and several clients return for more work.
Our Take
Pick Creole Studios if you’re a startup building a portal, dashboard, or AI feature, not just pages. Skip it for a simple brochure site, or if overlapping working hours matter to you.
3. Lounge Lizard — Ideal if You Want a Careful, Search-Aware Redesign

- Website: loungelizard.com
- Minimum Project Cost: $10,000
- Average Client Satisfaction Rating: 4.77 (79 reviews)
- Team Size: 58 (LinkedIn)
- Years in Business: 28
- Monthly Website Visits: 2,470
- Employee Review Score: 4.20 (29 reviews)
Overview
Lounge Lizard builds custom layouts, not off-the-shelf themes. The platform follows the job, from WordPress and Drupal to Shopify, Adobe Commerce, and Contentful.
Pricing isn’t listed. Cost depends on page types, content needs, and integrations. You get a custom quote after a short priorities talk.
The agency says most clients stay on after launch, with maintenance, SEO, and conversion work continuing. I’d ask for a reference who did exactly that.
Its newest work is AI search. A visibility service plans page structure and markup so AI tools can read your content. A pre-launch baseline gives you a starting measure.
On the ecommerce side, it also builds three-dimensional product configurators, which suit catalogs where buyers customize.
It fits a mid-market or enterprise team planning a careful redesign. If you want a fixed price up front, expect a longer scoping conversation first.
Core Services
- Custom web design and redesign
- Web development on WordPress, Drupal, Shopify, Adobe Commerce, and Contentful
- eCommerce design and development
- SEO, AI search optimization, and PPC
- Branding and ongoing site support
Why They Rank #3
- Web design is a bigger part of its business than at every agency here except one, and clients rate its value for money about average for the list.
- Only Infomedia has been in business longer, which is a long record of sites rebuilt through changing web trends.
- Employee data is a strength. It has the third-most staff reviews on the list, and the score behind them is solid, which points to steady teams.
- Client satisfaction is the weakest area. Its rating sits in the bottom third of this list despite a healthy number of reviews.
- Reach is what keeps it below #1. Its team is about a sixth the size of Digital Silk’s, and its site draws a small fraction of that traffic.
Snapshot of Client Reviews
Several reviewers have stayed with Lounge Lizard for years, the clearest pattern in the review set. Praise covers on-time delivery and creative direction. The gripes are about handoff: thinner CMS training than hoped and a few quiet stretches after launch.
Our Take
Call Lounge Lizard if you’re a mid-market team redesigning a site that must keep its search traffic. Look elsewhere if you need a fixed price up front or a fast, low-budget launch.
4. UPQODE — A Fit if You Want a WordPress Site With SEO Built In

- Website: upqode.com
- Minimum Project Cost: $5,000
- Average Client Satisfaction Rating: 4.93 (148 reviews)
- Team Size: 48 (LinkedIn)
- Years in Business: 12
- Monthly Website Visits: 3,887
- Employee Review Score: 4.80 (4 reviews)
Overview
UPQODE’s case studies cover a wide spread. They include Concentric AI in data security, Propelr in finance, and Telegraph in logistics. AdPipe, an AI video platform, is another.
The team is small and in-house. Its page names a CEO, web designers, front-end developers, a back-end developer, and a project manager.
Its values spell out the agency’s name, with a nod to family spirit and open communication.
Lately the blog leans toward search and speed, with posts on SEO services and site performance benchmarking. That fits a team that says it builds SEO into each project.
I’d shortlist UPQODE for a WordPress build with SEO behind it. If you need a custom app or a headless stack, it’s a narrower fit.
Core Services
- Custom WordPress web design and development
- Shopify and eCommerce design
- SEO, PPC, and content writing
- Website maintenance and managed WordPress hosting
- Social media marketing and analytics
Why They Rank #4
- Only two agencies have more client reviews, and the rating holds up across that volume.
- Its entry budget is half of what each of the three agencies above it asks, so smaller projects fit.
- Web design is a middling share of its work, behind seven agencies here, with SEO, ads, and hosting filling the rest.
- Staff evidence is its weakest area. The employee score is the second-highest on the list, but only a handful of reviews sit behind it, so treat it as a light signal.
- Lounge Lizard sits above it because it has more than twice the years in business and a bigger share of web design work.
Snapshot of Client Reviews
Reviewers rarely complain, but the few notes are specific. Time zone gaps slowed some updates, and one client wanted creative direction settled earlier. AI-made graphics missed on a logo add-on. The rest is steady praise for WordPress skill, quick replies, and organized project management.
Our Take
Hire UPQODE if your small or mid-size business needs a WordPress site with SEO built in. Bring clear visual direction. Skip it for a custom web app or a design-led brand overhaul.
5. Infomedia — Choose Them if You Want the Same Team to Keep Your Site Running

- Website: infomedia.com
- Minimum Project Cost: $1,000
- Average Client Satisfaction Rating: 5.00 (153 reviews)
- Team Size: 165 (LinkedIn)
- Years in Business: 32
- Monthly Website Visits: 2,645
- Employee Review Score: N/A
Overview
Infomedia’s client list includes Brasfield & Gorrie, a construction firm that got a refreshed corporate site. The Alabama Natural Gas Association is a long-term client with a new look and simpler navigation.
The scope is wider than most web shops. It covers strategy, design, development, support, and media, including photo and video. AI training is on the menu too.
Here’s a newer twist. Built a site with an AI tool? Infomedia can often take over its hosting, support, and updates.
The agency jokes that it’s old in a good way, and it has been at this for decades. The pitch is a personal touch and a team that sticks around after launch.
I’d suggest Infomedia if you want the same people to build the site and keep it running. Web design is a smaller slice of its work. For a bold brand project, a design-first studio may suit you better.
Core Services
- Custom WordPress website design and development
- Strategy and planning
- Ongoing support, security, and updates
- Photography and video production
- AI training
Why They Rank #5
- Nobody has been in business longer, and it has the second-largest team here, so it can staff a build and then support it for years.
- Value for money is a strength. Clients rate it at the top of the scale, and its entry budget sits in the lowest group on this list.
- The client rating is perfect and rests on the second-largest review pool, so it’s unusually well supported.
- Web design is its weakest scored area, in the bottom third of the list. That, plus lower traffic, is why UPQODE sits above it.
Snapshot of Client Reviews
Only two Clutch reviews exist, so this is a small sample. Both give perfect scores and credit clear project overviews, careful planning, and flexibility when surprises hit. One client noted a short learning curve in a niche industry. Both projects date from several years ago.
Our Take
Choose Infomedia if you want the same team to build your site and keep it updated. You get plain talk, not jargon. For a design-forward brand launch, a design-led studio is the safer bet.
6. DD.NYC — Strong Pick if Your Brand Needs Web, Packaging, and Video From One Studio

- Website: dd.nyc
- Minimum Project Cost: $10,000
- Average Client Satisfaction Rating: 4.93 (197 reviews)
- Team Size: 40 (LinkedIn)
- Years in Business: 11
- Monthly Website Visits: 6,650
- Employee Review Score: 3.00 (1 review)
Overview
DD.NYC built a host-city website for the FIFA World Cup. It also made a stadium site for New York City FC, with 3D views and custom animation.
The client mix spans real estate, healthcare, finance, and tech. Match Group, the dating platform company, got a site with custom animations.
The process moves from research and strategy through concept, prototype, development, and QA before launch. Every site is custom, never built from a template.
Builds include WordPress and headless CMS setups. Unlike many web studios, DD.NYC also handles branding, packaging, and video.
I’d shortlist DD.NYC if your brand needs a polished site plus packaging or video from one team. For a quick, functional site, you’d pay for a lot of creative range you may not use.
Core Services
- Custom web design and development
- UI/UX design and prototyping
- Brand strategy and identity
- Packaging and graphic design
- Video production and motion design
Why They Rank #6
- More clients have rated it than any other agency here, and the score holds up across that volume.
- Its site draws the second-most traffic on the list, so plenty of buyers already find this team.
- Hourly rate is a soft spot. It sits in the top range here, so add-ons cost more than at most agencies. Clients still rate its value above average.
- Staff evidence is nearly absent. A single employee review sits behind the score, so there is no real outside read on team stability.
- What holds it below #5 is scale and longevity. Infomedia’s team is about four times larger, with far more years in business.
Snapshot of Client Reviews
One bad review stands out. A beauty brand cited missed deadlines, a platform switch, and a cart that failed at launch. The rest of this large set is warm. Clients praise on-time delivery, creative range, and a partner-like feel, with mild notes on uneven communication.
Our Take
A strong match for a real estate or consumer brand with a site as polished as its packaging. A weaker fit for a fast store launch. There, the lone negative review deserves a reference call.
7. Superpath — Right for You if You Run a Home Service Company That Wants Leads, Not Just a Site

- Website: superpath.com
- Minimum Project Cost: $1,000
- Average Client Satisfaction Rating: 4.80 (35 reviews)
- Team Size: 41 (LinkedIn)
- Years in Business: 17
- Monthly Website Visits: 2,591
- Employee Review Score: 4.50 (17 reviews)
Overview
Superpath’s website portfolio reads like a roll call of trades. It includes Rooter Solutions, Emerald Bay Plumbing, and Lighthouse Electrical Service. Private equity groups are another listed client type.
It has served home service companies for well over a decade. That shows in how it frames the work. Leads and booked jobs come first, and the website is one piece.
Sites plug into tools trades already use. Superpath is a ServiceTitan Certified Provider, and builds connections to CRMs, call tracking, and online booking.
Pricing is unusually open for an agency. The site publishes a typical price range and a typical launch timeline.
Its newest work pairs AI with human review. A dashboard called ION connects marketing spend to booked-job revenue.
I’d pick Superpath if you run a trade business and want leads tied to your website. A design-first studio fits a showcase brand better. Here, web design is one service of several.
Core Services
- Website design for home service companies
- SEO and paid search
- Social media and video marketing
- ION revenue reporting
- ServiceTitan-connected marketing and AI platform marketing
Why They Rank #7
- Employee sentiment is a strength. Its score is among the top five here, backed by the fifth-most staff reviews.
- Entry cost sits in the lowest group on the list, shared with nine others, so smaller trade businesses can afford to start.
- Web design is a modest share of its work, below the middle of the list, since SEO and ads lead the business.
- Its client rating and review count both land in the bottom third of this ranking, which makes client satisfaction its weakest area.
- DD.NYC sits above it on reach. It has far more client reviews, more web design focus, and over twice the traffic.
Snapshot of Client Reviews
Most visible reviews date from several years back, so weigh them with care. Professionalism, on-time delivery, and measurable search gains lead the praise. The snags come early: repeated requests for information already sent, and a first draft that needed client edits.
Our Take
Choose Superpath if you run an HVAC, plumbing, or electrical firm and want booked jobs. Skip it for a design-led brand site, where web design is only a side service.
8. Lform Design — Smart Choice if You Run a B2B Manufacturing or Industrial Distribution Firm

- Website: lform.com
- Minimum Project Cost: $25,000
- Average Client Satisfaction Rating: 4.87 (80 reviews)
- Team Size: 15 (LinkedIn)
- Years in Business: 21
- Monthly Website Visits: 3,401
- Employee Review Score: 4.50 (7 reviews)
Overview
Lform Design builds websites for manufacturers and industrial distributors, and it has since the start. Owner and creative director Ian Loew built the firm around custom web design.
Lead generation, custom API work, and SEO came later. Its newest push is answer engines, with AEO and GEO aimed at getting manufacturers cited in AI search.
Senior people work directly with clients, with no project manager layer between you and them. The process runs from discovery and a content hierarchy study to wireframes and a UX prototype.
Development starts only after you approve the prototype. You also own the finished site, with no obligation to stay after launch.
I’d shortlist Lform if you make or distribute industrial products and want a site built around them. Its entry budget is among the highest here, so smaller firms may need to look elsewhere.
Core Services
- Custom web design with wireframing and UX prototyping
- Website development on Statamic and WordPress
- Lead generation for manufacturers
- Custom API integrations
- SEO, including AEO and GEO for answer engines
Why They Rank #8
- It has been around longer than most of this list, and its traffic ranks in the top seven.
- Employee sentiment looks good, with a top-five score, but only a handful of reviews back it, so it is a light signal.
- Web design is a middling share of its work, near the list median, and clients rate its value about average.
- Cost is the weakest area. Its hourly rate is in the top range, and its minimum is among the three highest here.
- What holds it below #7 is capacity and cost. Its team is under half of Superpath’s size, and its entry budget is 25 times higher.
Snapshot of Client Reviews
Honesty about delays stands out. Reviewers say schedule slips happened, usually from project complexity or staffing, but the team flagged them early. One long engagement saw costs rise after unmigrated data surfaced, and another client found the content workload heavy.
Our Take
Hire Lform if you’re a B2B manufacturer or industrial distributor with a complex catalog and long sales cycles. Skip it for a small local business or a tight budget. The entry price won’t fit.
9. Southern View Media — Good Match if You Are a Small Local Business That Wants a Custom Site

- Website: southernviewmedia.com
- Minimum Project Cost: $1,000
- Average Client Satisfaction Rating: 4.95 (45 reviews)
- Team Size: 22 (LinkedIn)
- Years in Business: 11
- Monthly Website Visits: 43
- Employee Review Score: 3.95 (15 reviews)
Overview
Southern View Media works mostly with small, local businesses. Its clients include restaurants, construction companies, and clinics.
The process is easy to follow. Six steps lead to launch. Your site is built on a private preview subdomain, so you can watch it take shape.
Copy gets the same care. An in-house writer drafts the content, and a proofreader checks it before you approve it.
Cost is flexible for new owners. The agency offers payment plans on websites, plus templated site and logo options for startups.
Its service list reaches past websites into connected-TV ads, geofencing, and public-sector communications.
I’d suggest Southern View Media if you’re a small business that wants a custom site plus marketing help. A larger or more complex build may suit a web-first studio better.
Core Services
- Custom WordPress website design and development
- SEO and Google Ads
- Social media marketing and social ads
- Connected-TV, geofence, and video advertising
- Content writing and logo design
Why They Rank #9
- Value is its strongest suit. Clients rate it at the top of the scale. Its entry budget sits in the lowest group here.
- Its client rating lands in the top six, and a mid-sized pool of reviews backs it.
- Staff signals are steady, with the sixth-most employee reviews and a mid-pack score.
- Visibility is the weakest area. Its site draws almost no traffic, one of the lowest on the list.
- Lform sits above it because it has nearly twice the years in business and far more traffic.
Snapshot of Client Reviews
Clutch holds a single review, so the fuller picture comes from Google reviews shown on DesignRush. Both read as glowing. Reviewers say the team takes time to learn the business, replies fast, and fixes small WordPress problems quickly. The sample shows no complaints.
Our Take
Hire Southern View Media if you run a small local business and want a custom WordPress site. Ads and social come from the same team. For a large or technical build, a web-first studio is safer.
10. Baunfire — Consider Them if You Run a Funded Tech Company That Needs a Premium Site

- Website: baunfire.com
- Minimum Project Cost: $75,000
- Average Client Satisfaction Rating: 4.90 (93 reviews)
- Team Size: 32 (LinkedIn)
- Years in Business: 25
- Monthly Website Visits: 583
- Employee Review Score: 4.40 (2 reviews)
Overview
Baunfire’s recent corporate-site work includes Karat, Cellares, Lumana, and Ambi Robotics. The work leans toward technology brands, B2B companies, and funded startups.
Projects move through five stages: discover, strategize, execute, launch, and evolve. The last stage uses analytics to keep what works and adjust the rest.
Builds run on WordPress, Drupal, or Webflow, with integrations into HubSpot. You can hire the team per project or keep it as your agency of record.
Its stated values read like a hiring guide. They include detail-oriented, self-starting, and humble.
Recent articles cover SaaS launch sites, AI-driven B2B marketing, and conversion work.
I’d shortlist Baunfire if you’re a funded tech or B2B company that wants a premium site. The budget floor is high, so smaller firms may need another route.
Core Services
- Website design and UX
- Website development on WordPress, Drupal, and Webflow
- Strategy and discovery
- HubSpot and marketing tool integrations
- Ongoing optimization as an agency of record
Why They Rank #10
- This is a specialist profile. Web design takes up a bigger share of its work than at every agency here but two.
- Only three agencies have been in business longer, so the team has seen plenty of tech cycles.
- Value for money is a soft spot. Clients rate it in the bottom handful of the list, so budget for a premium partner.
- Cost is the weakest scored area. Its minimum ties for the highest here, and its hourly rate is in the top range.
Snapshot of Client Reviews
Clients describe Baunfire as an extension of their own team, the warmest theme in a large review set. The recurring caveats are bugs after launch and late news on add-on licensing costs. A few delays trace back to client approvals.
Our Take
Pick Baunfire if you’re a funded tech or B2B company that needs a premium marketing site. If your budget sits far below its entry price, start with a lower-cost agency on this list.
11. Phenomenon Studio — Built for You if You Are a Healthtech or SaaS Team That Needs Product Design

- Website: phenomenonstudio.com
- Minimum Project Cost: $10,000
- Average Client Satisfaction Rating: 4.93 (85 reviews)
- Team Size: 79 (LinkedIn)
- Years in Business: 7
- Monthly Website Visits: 3,958
- Employee Review Score: N/A
Overview
Phenomenon Studio’s portfolio includes Isora, a compliance platform, and a payments redesign for Klickex. It also built a brand system for the AI startup Artisan.
Its pitch is senior talent only. Juniors don’t work on client projects, and the team builds design tokens developers can reuse.
Forbes and MedCity News have both covered the studio. It is a younger firm that has grown into a large team.
Lately it has added AI development, and it is now an official Claude services partner.
I’d shortlist Phenomenon if you’re a healthtech or SaaS company that needs product design before a website. For a plain marketing site, a web-first studio fits better.
Core Services
- Website design and redesign
- Web and mobile product design
- Web, mobile, and AI development
- Branding and identity
- Product discovery and UX audits
Why They Rank #11
- Team size is a real strength. Only two agencies have more people, which means room for parallel work.
- Only three agencies draw more website traffic, so buyers find this team easily.
- Hourly rate is a quiet advantage. Only one agency on the list charges less, so costs stay lower if scope grows.
- Web design is a small slice of its work, in the lowest tier for focus here, because product design and development lead.
- What keeps it below Baunfire is focus and track record. Baunfire gives web design far more of its work and has operated more than three times as long.
Snapshot of Client Reviews
On-time delivery outranks even design quality in what Clutch reviewers mention. Communication and project management follow. The complaints are small. They include minor oversights, thin post-launch support, and one budget stretch after added scope.
Our Take
Hire Phenomenon if you’re a healthtech or SaaS team building a product where the site is one piece. Skip it if you only need a simple marketing site on a lean budget.
12. Design In DC — Worth Hiring if You Want Web, Branding, and Video on a Flexible Plan

- Website: designindc.com
- Minimum Project Cost: $10,000
- Average Client Satisfaction Rating: 4.50 (108 reviews)
- Team Size: 43 (LinkedIn)
- Years in Business: 10
- Monthly Website Visits: 3,648
- Employee Review Score: 1.80 (2 reviews)
Overview
Every project here starts with a discovery call. It then runs on RobustAPP, a project platform the agency built for itself.
Its client list includes Accenture, Virginia Tech, and BGR Group. Other work covers government, hospitality, and nonprofit organizations.
Plans can be a subscription or pay per use, and they scale up or down. That suits teams whose needs change from month to month.
The site says the agency belongs to an award-winning network of studios. It also uses AI tools alongside its team.
Newer services include GEO, which aims to get your brand cited in AI search answers.
I’d shortlist Design In DC if you want web, branding, and video from one team. A single-purpose project with a fixed scope may suit a narrower specialist better.
Core Services
- Website design and development on WordPress, Shopify, and headless setups
- Digital marketing, SEO, and GEO
- Branding and logo design
- Web and mobile app development
- Photo and video production
Why They Rank #12
- Review volume is a strength. Only five agencies have more client reviews, so the feedback pool is deep.
- Web design is a real share of its work, in the top ten for focus here, which fits a web-first project.
- Hourly rate sits in the top tier of this list, so ongoing work and add-ons cost more than at most agencies.
- Its employee score is the lowest on the list, though only two reviews sit behind it. Treat it as a flag, not a verdict.
- What holds it below Phenomenon Studio is satisfaction. Clients rate it noticeably lower, and Phenomenon charges a third of its hourly rate.
Snapshot of Client Reviews
Budget creep is the sore spot. Several reviewers say final costs ran past the estimate. A few mention missed deadlines or a rough start. Praise for communication, project management, and quality still outweighs those notes across a large review set.
Our Take
Choose Design In DC if you want web, branding, and video from one team. Watch scope closely as you go. Skip it if you need a fixed budget with no surprises.
13. Solid Digital — Fits Best if You Run a B2B Company and Want Senior Attention for the Long Haul

- Website: soliddigital.com
- Minimum Project Cost: $75,000
- Average Client Satisfaction Rating: 4.95 (53 reviews)
- Team Size: 19 (LinkedIn)
- Years in Business: 19
- Monthly Website Visits: 1,727
- Employee Review Score: 4.40 (21 reviews)
Overview
Founder and CEO Jesse McCabe and President Diana Martinez say they run every client engagement themselves. They stay hands-on from kickoff to launch.
Work follows four steps: learn, strategize, create, and grow. Launch is treated as the start of the relationship, not the end.
Client relationships often last for years, and some run past a decade. The agency has adapted through each web era, from early HTML to cloud, SaaS, and now AI.
Paid search packages carry published monthly prices, which most agencies skip.
Its newest focus is AI implementation and training, backed by an AI Lab section on its site.
I’d pick Solid Digital if you’re a mid-market or enterprise B2B team that wants a long-term partner. Its entry budget is among the steepest here, so smaller firms should look elsewhere.
Core Services
- B2B website design and development
- Brand and visual design
- Custom software and integrations
- SEO, paid search, and content
- AI implementation and training
Why They Rank #13
- It gives web design more of its work than any other agency here. That focus is rare on this list.
- Staff signals are among the strongest. Only three agencies have more employee reviews, and the score sits in the top six.
- Only seven agencies have been in business longer, so the team has seen several shifts in web design.
- Capacity keeps it from climbing. Its team sits in the bottom half for size, and traffic is middle of the pack.
- Cost is the weakest area. Clients rate its value among the lowest three on the list, and its minimum ties for the highest.
Snapshot of Client Reviews
Projects here run on schedule, and reviewers say they stay organized from kickoff to launch. The dings are one-offs. They include light SEO guidance, one sloppy CMS build, and a heavy content workload. Cost scores lowest among the sub-ratings.
Our Take
Choose Solid Digital if you’re a mid-market B2B or healthcare team that wants a long partnership. You’ll need the budget for it. Skip it for a small startup site on a lean budget.
14. Ajroni — Go With Them if You Want a Fixed Price and a Custom Build on a Small-Business Budget

- Website: ajroni.com
- Minimum Project Cost: $1,000
- Average Client Satisfaction Rating: 4.63 (146 reviews)
- Team Size: 12 (LinkedIn)
- Years in Business: 9
- Monthly Website Visits: 951
- Employee Review Score: N/A
Overview
Ajroni builds every site from scratch and keeps the work in house. There are no freelancers, no outsourcing, and no reused templates.
Pricing is fixed, with scope, cost, and timeline agreed upfront. Package prices are published for SEO and website design.
Most clients are small businesses, including law firms, home care providers, and real estate companies. Kardas Law, Acti-Kare, and LUXE Properties are among the names.
For Modern Aging MD, a mobile-first redesign brought more qualified leads, by the client’s own account.
I’d shortlist Ajroni if you’re a small business that wants a predictable price and a custom build. For a large, complex platform, a bigger team is the safer call.
Core Services
- Custom web design and development
- eCommerce stores
- Mobile app development for iOS and Android
- SEO services and audits
- Digital marketing
Why They Rank #14
- A large review pool and a lower rating go together here. Only three agencies have more reviews, and only three score lower.
- Traffic and team size both sit below the middle of the list, so it has less visibility and capacity than most.
- Web design is a modest share of its work, below the middle for focus, since apps and marketing share the load.
- What holds it below Solid Digital is fit and depth. That agency has more staff, a higher rating, and far more web design focus.
- Value is the line to repeat. Clients rate cost at the top of the scale, and its entry price is in the lowest group.
Snapshot of Client Reviews
One 0.5 rating drags the average, and a later unverified review calls the same project a 5. The rest of the Clutch set is positive. Reviewers mention on-time delivery, patience with changes, and smooth e-commerce work.
Our Take
Pick Ajroni if you’re a small business that wants a custom site at a fixed price. Skip it for a large e-commerce platform, where team depth and a firmer track record matter more.
15. Copperwing Design — Reasonable Pick if You Need a Brand Built Before the Website

- Website: copperwing.com
- Minimum Project Cost: $5,000
- Average Client Satisfaction Rating: 4.95 (22 reviews)
- Team Size: 21 (LinkedIn)
- Years in Business: 27
- Monthly Website Visits: 8
- Employee Review Score: 4.00 (1 review)
Overview
Copperwing begins with visioning workshops. Your team and theirs map the brand before any design starts.
Case studies include branding for Neptune Technology Group in the water industry. Others cover a meal program called Break for a Plate and a refreshed look for KW Container.
From there the work spreads across naming, video, campaigns, and websites. Sites run on WordPress or Drupal, and Copperwing can host and manage them too.
The firm has served clients for decades. Its founder is now steering it into the next stage.
I’d shortlist Copperwing if you need a brand built before a site. If a website is all you need, a web-first studio will serve you better.
Core Services
- Visioning workshops and brand strategy
- Brand development and management
- Website design and development, with hosting
- Video and motion design
- Marketing campaigns and social media
Why They Rank #15
- Visibility is the weakest field. Its site draws almost no search traffic, among the lowest on the list.
- Web design is a small part of the business, in the lowest tier for focus. The hourly rate is in the top range.
- Its client rating is in the top six, but the review count is in the bottom third, so the rating is a thin signal.
- What holds it below Ajroni is proof. Ajroni has over six times the client reviews and far more traffic.
- Experience is the strongest field. Only two agencies have been in business longer.
Snapshot of Client Reviews
Long relationships show up in the few reviews on file. Clients cite strong quality, organized project management, and measurable gains in traffic and program sign-ups. One wanted feedback spread through the project instead of bunched at the end.
Our Take
Choose Copperwing if you’re a bank, nonprofit, or B2B firm that needs a brand built before a website. Skip it if you only need a web build or strong search visibility.
Disclosure: Our recommendations include both locally headquartered agencies and offshore firms that provide services in this region. Some agencies featured do not maintain a physical office here but have an established track record of delivering services to clients in the area.
How to Narrow Down Your Web Design Agency Options
Every web design agency looks good on its own homepage. These seven checks show you which ones hold up when you compare web design agencies side by side.
1. Test the Work Against Your Project
Open their last few sites on your phone and test the UI/UX Design yourself. If three load slowly, that tells you more than any sales deck. Then find a project close to yours, since similar work predicts your result.
2. Look for Pricing That Explains Itself
Directory filters list minimums like $1,000+, $5,000+, or $10,000+. Those are entry points, not quotes. Most Alabama businesses are small, so a clear breakdown beats a low starting number. Try a cost calculator first, then ask for a line-by-line quote.
3. Ask How SEO Gets Built In
Alabama searchers use mixed phrasing, like “web design Alabama” or “Alabama web design.” Your customers will search for you the same way. I’d ask each agency how it builds SEO into the site before launch. Page speed and redirects should come up.
4. Match the Platform to Your Team
Alabama buyers often search by platform, usually WordPress, Shopify, or Webflow. Ask which one the agency would pick for you and why. A good answer ties the platform to your team’s skills, so you can edit pages yourself.
5. Test Communication Before You Sign
I’d ask what they do when a deadline slips. A calm, specific answer shows you how the project will run. Then ask who you’ll talk to each week, and how fast they reply.
6. Plan for Growth
Your site should grow when you do. Retail is a big small-business sector in Alabama, so ecommerce demand stays high. Ask if the build can add a store or new pages without a rebuild.
7. Check Local Expertise
Alabama’s business hubs are spread out. Huntsville is up north, Birmingham is central, and Mobile sits on the Gulf. Ask any agency, local or remote, which Alabama clients it has served. A firm with real market knowledge answers with details.
Avoid These Mistakes Before Hiring a Web Design Agency
Most bad agency hires fail in a few predictable ways. These eight are the ones I would check before you sign anything.
1. Choosing on Price Alone
Solo owners on tight budgets feel pulled toward the lowest quote. It rarely pays off. A cheap site that needs a rebuild costs more than a fair one built right. Our website design cost data helps you judge a quote. I’d ask what the low price leaves out.
2. Ignoring SEO Until After Launch
A redesign can wipe out the search traffic your old site earned. Old pages vanish without redirects, and without tracking you won’t see the drop. Ask how the agency handles both before you sign.
3. Skipping the Portfolio Review
A polished portfolio from the wrong field proves little. Healthcare, legal, and professional firms need design built for their industry. Ask to see projects like yours, then ask what changed after launch.
4. Not Checking Reviews on More Than One Platform
Directory pages for Alabama list anywhere from 26 to 133 agencies. The totals disagree, so no single page shows the full market. Check reviews on more than one platform, and read the lukewarm ones first.
5. Assuming Local Beats Remote
Buyers often ask whether a local or remote agency is better. Neither wins by default. A remote team with clear communication can beat a nearby one that misses your market.
Judge the proof, not the address. To weigh remote options, browse web design agencies across the USA.
6. Overlooking Mobile and Slow Connections
Broadband access in Alabama trails the national average, and some regions fall further behind. Your visitors may load pages on slow connections. Test every key page on a phone over mobile data. Heavy pages lose people fast.
7. Never Asking Who Owns the Site
Some agencies register your domain and host your site under their own accounts. If you part ways, you can lose both. Ask who owns the domain, hosting, and admin logins. I’d get the answer in writing.
8. Having No Support Plan After Launch
Web Design doesn’t end at launch. Plugins, security patches, and content edits keep coming. Ask what website maintenance costs each month and who answers when something breaks. A site with no owner decays fast.
Making the Right Decision
Start with the ranking of Alabama web design agencies, then narrow it by fit, not by score alone. A higher rank shows stronger data. It does not mean a better match for your project.
Use each Why They Rank section to see what the numbers mean for you. Then read Our Take to see who the agency suits and who should look elsewhere.
If two agencies seem close, ask both for a fixed quote and a sample from a similar project. For a wider comparison, see Louisiana web design agencies and North Carolina web design agencies.
Alabama is also changing. Broadband funding is bringing more rural users online, so fast, mobile-friendly sites will matter more each year. Choose an agency that treats speed and accessibility as part of the build.
We built this list at OneLittleWeb to make that choice easier. Book calls with your shortlist, and bring the questions this guide raised.
How We Selected, Scored, and Ranked the Agencies
Why This Ranking Is Different
Most agency roundups lean on editorial opinion, self-reported claims, or paid placement. This ranking works differently. It applies one repeatable scoring framework to every agency, so the order comes from data.
The list covers web design agencies serving Alabama. Some are headquartered locally, some are national, and some work offshore.
Physical location is not a scoring factor, and no agency earns extra points for being local. No agency paid for inclusion or a higher position.
Scored metrics are the numbers in the five groups below. Everything else is qualitative research. It shapes each profile, but it changes a score only if it matches a weighted metric. Each “Why They Rank” note follows the same rule.
Where Your Data Comes From
We collected the data independently during 2026. Each source covers a different part of the picture, so no single platform decides a ranking.
SEMrush supplies estimated monthly website traffic. It is an estimate, so use it to compare agencies, not as an exact visitor count.
Client ratings and review counts come from Clutch, DesignRush, G2, Google Business Profile, and Trustpilot. Employee ratings and review volume come from Glassdoor and Indeed. LinkedIn gives us each agency’s team size.
Agency websites and other public sources fill in the rest. That covers services, pricing, hourly rates, minimum project size, and business history.
We also reviewed service pages, portfolios, case studies, client examples, awards, partnerships, certifications, and other public materials.
This confirmed each agency’s web design capabilities and gave context for the profiles. Unless represented by one of the weighted metrics below, these qualitative findings do not affect the numerical score.
The Five Dimensions That Shape Your Rankings
Each agency is scored across five weighted areas. Positive categories add points, while pricing metrics apply deductions for higher cost barriers.
1. Web Design Focus & Value Assessment (20%)
This category measures how central web design is to the agency’s offering. It also measures how clients rate the value they received relative to cost.
| Metric | Weight | How We Calculated It |
| Web Design Focus | 10% | Web design appeared as a core agency service |
| Client Rating for Cost | 10% | Average cost/value rating from selected review platforms |
Agencies gain when web design is a core part of their business. They also gain when clients report strong value for money.
2. Brand Authority (45%)
Brand Authority measures visibility, scale, and operating history.
| Metric | Weight | How We Calculated It |
| Website Traffic | 20% | Higher estimated SEMrush traffic contributed more points |
| LinkedIn Team Size | 15% | Larger teams contributed more points |
| Years in Business | 10% | Longer operating histories contributed more points |
These metrics work as comparative signals of market presence, delivery capacity, and operating stability. A larger number does not make an agency better. It only shows scale.
3. Client Satisfaction (30%)
This category combines rating quality with review volume.
| Metric | Weight | How We Calculated It |
| Average Client Rating | 15% | Combined ratings from selected review platforms |
| Total Client Reviews | 15% | Greater review volume contributed more confidence to the score |
A high rating backed by many reviews counts for more than the same rating from a few. Review themes appear in each profile’s client review snapshot and do not change the score.
4. Employee Satisfaction (25%)
Employee sentiment gives an extra signal about organizational stability.
| Metric | Weight | How We Calculated It |
| Average Employee Rating | 10% | Average rating from Glassdoor and Indeed |
| Number of Employee Reviews | 15% | Greater review volume reduced the influence of very small samples |
Both the rating and the number of employee reviews matter. A strong score from a few reviews counts for less than the same score from many.
5. Cost Accessibility Adjustment (-20%)
This is the only category that subtracts points.
| Metric | Weight | How We Calculated It |
| Hourly Rate | -10% | Higher hourly rates received larger deductions |
| Minimum Project Cost | -10% | Higher entry costs reduced accessibility scores |
A deduction does not mean an expensive agency delivers worse work. It only reflects how accessible each agency is across a wider range of budgets. Together, the two deductions can remove up to 20 points.
How the Final Score Works
Each metric is normalized, weighted, and combined into a score out of 100. Positive metrics contribute up to 120 points. The Cost Accessibility Adjustment can deduct up to 20 points. It uses hourly rate and minimum project cost.
No single metric decides an agency’s rank. Larger agencies may gain from stronger traffic, team size, or longevity. Smaller agencies may do better on client satisfaction, employee sentiment, web design focus, value, or affordability.
Only the weighted metrics affect rankings. Awards, clients, partnerships, certifications, and case studies may appear in profiles.
So may portfolio quality, local presence, technical expertise, proprietary processes, and media mentions. None of them change a score on their own. This lets us compare agencies of different sizes, pricing models, and market positions fairly.
Disclosure: All rankings and scores are based solely on publicly available data collected at the time of publication. These rankings reflect the market landscape at the time of publication. Although individual metrics may change over time, the evaluation framework prioritizes long-term capability signals, making major ranking fluctuations unlikely.
