Hundreds of firms in Vienna’s business directory sell web design. That sounds like plenty of choice. But it isn’t.
Here’s why. Most web design companies in Vienna show a polished portfolio and promise a smooth launch. Then the quotes arrive. Each package includes something different, so you can’t compare the prices.
That gets expensive fast. A wrong pick means paying twice, once for the site and again for the fix. Lost months and lost leads make the bill bigger.
So I did the comparison. I scored 32 agencies on public data from Clutch, DesignRush, G2, Glassdoor, Indeed, LinkedIn, and SEMrush. Every agency got the same scorecard, whether it sits in Vienna or serves the city from abroad.
Now you can weigh real differences instead of sales pages. That turns a crowded market into a short, clear list. Start with the ranking, then read the profiles that fit you.

Deep Dive: Agency-by-Agency Reviews
Now let’s get into the details of the top web design services in Vienna. What we found on each agency, and what it means for your shortlist.
1. DD.NYC® — Best if you want one studio for web, branding, and packaging

- Website: dd.nyc
- Minimum Project Cost: $10,000
- Average Client Satisfaction Rating: 4.93 (197 reviews)
- Team Size: 39 (LinkedIn)
- Years in Business: 11
- Monthly Website Visits: 5,490
- Employee Review Score: 3.9 (16 reviews)
Overview
DD.NYC describes its approach as a blend of artistry and analytics. That shows up in an agile process where design choices tie back to measurable results.
The agency began as DigitalDesign.NYC and later rebuilt itself under its current name. The studio now offers branding and packaging next to web design.
Anjelika Kour leads the studio as managing partner and creative director. Her background is creative and digital leadership.
Recent work shows the range. The team designed sites for Match Group brands such as Tinder and Hinge. It also built a web project for the FIFA World Cup. The agency says it ranks first among women-owned design agencies worldwide.
If you want one team for your site, brand, and packaging, I’d put DD.NYC® on the shortlist. Expect premium rates, so a small brochure site may be better served elsewhere.
Core Services
- Web design and development
- Branding and brand strategy
- UI/UX design
- Packaging design
- Graphic design and video production
Why They Rank #1
- Web design is about half of what it sells, one of the highest shares on this list.
- It shares the highest hourly rate here, yet its value-for-cost rating holds level with the typical agency. A high price did not dent how clients judge the value.
- A team this size can run bigger projects in parallel instead of queuing them behind one designer.
- Few agencies here publish employee reviews, and this one has among the most. That makes its employee score more reliable than most.
- Cost is its weak spot. The joint-highest hourly rate and a high entry price both pull it down. It ranks first on scale and review depth, not because it is cheap or best rated.
Snapshot of Client Reviews
The long review record is glowing, with clients noting quick replies and a team invested in their success. Recent months read more mixed, which is worth asking about on a call.
Our Take
Choose DD.NYC® if you have the budget and want web, brand, and packaging under one roof. Skip it for a small brochure site, a tight budget, or a pure development job. A leaner team costs far less.
2. The Weather — A fit when you want a sharp, no-nonsense site for a startup or NGO

- Website: theweather.agency
- Minimum Project Cost: $10,000
- Average Client Satisfaction Rating: 4.75 (59 reviews)
- Team Size: 22 (LinkedIn)
- Years in Business: 6
- Monthly Website Visits: 398
- Employee Review Score: 3.9 (17 reviews)
Overview
The Weather sells itself as no-nonsense. The pitch is outcomes, not excuses, from a lean team free of bureaucratic overhead.
It runs as a fully remote collective of independent specialists. That setup suits the clients it attracts.
Those clients lean toward tech startups, research groups, green energy firms, universities, and NGOs. Portfolio work includes web projects for Mews and Onera.
Several projects have won recognition on Awwwards. The agency also says Clutch ranks it first among web design companies in Germany.
I’d lean on it if you’re a startup or mission-led team that wants plain talk and sharp design. A large enterprise that needs a deep in-house bench should look elsewhere.
Core Services
- Website design
- Web development (WordPress, Elementor, React)
- Product and UI/UX design
- Branding and brand identity
- Motion and 3D design, plus AI-focused web and product work
Why They Rank #2
- Its employee score rests on the biggest review pool of any agency that publishes one. That makes it a firm number, not a guess.
- Web design is a larger part of its business than at the typical agency here.
- Its hourly rate sits at the middle of the list, far below the top-ranked agency.
- Traffic and age hold it back. It draws fewer visitors than the leaders and has a shorter operating history than most.
- Its client rating is its weakest score, and most agencies on this list rate higher. It ranks second because staff data, web focus, and mid-range rates add up.
Snapshot of Client Reviews
Clear, fast communication comes up first, and clients say problems get fixed quickly. Several also value how the team handles design, build, and later site care as one job. No clear pattern of complaints shows up.
Our Take
Pick The Weather if you’re a startup or NGO that wants a polished site on a mid-sized budget. Pass if you need a large in-house bench for a big enterprise rollout.
3. Adchitects — Choose it when you need a custom build with branding attached

- Website: adchitects.co
- Minimum Project Cost: $10,000
- Average Client Satisfaction Rating: 4.80 (77 reviews)
- Team Size: 35 (LinkedIn)
- Years in Business: 10
- Monthly Website Visits: 2,082
- Employee Review Score: 3.8 (4 reviews)
Overview
Adchitects build custom websites on WordPress and HubSpot. It also handles online stores on Shopify and WooCommerce.
The agency sits in HubSpot’s partner directory, which matters if your marketing already runs on that platform.
Everyone on the team is a permanent, full-time employee, and Kuba Luty leads as CEO and founder. Its stated approach rests on transparency and tight project management.
Past work leans toward software, nonprofit, financial services, and food and beverage brands. Many projects pair a new site with fresh branding.
I’d call it a solid pick for mid-sized companies that want a custom build and branding together. If you need a small template site, it will feel like too much.
Core Services
- Custom website design and development
- E-commerce development (Shopify, WooCommerce)
- Branding and identity
- SEO and ongoing site support
- HubSpot, CRM, and API integrations
Why They Rank #3
- Half its business is web design, matching the top-ranked agency and beating most of the list.
- Reach is solid, with a team near the top of the list and traffic well above the median.
- Its hourly rate is mid-range, but clients rate its value below the typical agency here. Cost-conscious buyers should weigh that.
- Its client rating trails most of the list, and its employee reviews are too few to matter. Those two gaps keep it behind the top two.
- It ranks third on size, focus, and review volume, not on how happy clients say they are.
Snapshot of Client Reviews
Project management is what stands out. Clients describe organized, communicative teams that kept builds on track and delivered design with real attention to detail. Some also mention the wide range of services, from design to support.
Our Take
A good fit if you’re a mid-sized company that wants a custom site, branding, and HubSpot work together. Look elsewhere if you need a quick template build on a small budget.
4. Phenomenon Studio — Best if you’re building a SaaS, fintech, or health product, not just a website

- Website: phenomenonstudio.com
- Minimum Project Cost: $10,000
- Average Client Satisfaction Rating: 4.93 (85 reviews)
- Team Size: 79 (LinkedIn)
- Years in Business: 7
- Monthly Website Visits: 4,437
- Employee Review Score: N/A
Overview
Phenomenon Studio works mostly with SaaS, fintech, healthtech, and EdTech teams. Web design sits inside broader product work.
One senior team owns the work from first call to launch, so you talk to practitioners. The studio is also a Webflow partner.
Past projects include a website and UX for a health care company, Genomic. It also created branding for a Web3 development firm, Dekryption Labs.
The studio began as a tiny operation chasing freelance work late into the night. Founders Valerii Filimonov and Polina Chebanova both came from product design.
I’d suggest it if you’re building a product, not just a marketing site. If you only need a simple brochure page, the product depth will be more than you need.
Core Services
- Web design and redesign (including Webflow builds)
- UX/UI and product design
- Web and app development
- Branding and identity
- AI development and MVP builds
Why They Rank #4
- Its website draws far more visitors than most agencies here, a sign of strong market visibility.
- A large review pool sits behind a rating that is high without being the best on this list. That makes the score steady rather than flashy.
- Its hourly rate is mid-list, far under the top agency’s, so visibility comes without a premium price.
- Web design focus is its weakest score, since the practice is a small slice next to product work.
- A short operating history and that thin focus keep it just below the top three. It ranks fourth on reach and review depth, not because web design is its core business.
Snapshot of Client Reviews
Clients tie the studio’s design polish to solid engineering and say the price felt fair. They also credit its research habits and a team open to feedback. A few mention hitting deadlines without drama.
Our Take
Hire Phenomenon Studio if you’re building a SaaS, fintech, or health product with one senior team. Pass if you want a simple marketing site or a team centered on web design alone.
5. Arounda — Choose it for a research-led redesign of a B2B product or large platform

- Website: arounda.agency
- Minimum Project Cost: $25,000
- Average Client Satisfaction Rating: 5.00 (72 reviews)
- Team Size: 37 (LinkedIn)
- Years in Business: 10
- Monthly Website Visits: 5,559
- Employee Review Score: N/A
Overview
Arounda says it grounds every design decision in research, with no guessing games. Its UX and UI audit flags conversion gaps and accessibility problems before a redesign starts.
The pitch has shifted over time. It once centered on startup product design and now centers on modernizing large digital platforms for enterprise teams.
Client work shows the mix. It designed UI and UX for Players Health’s insurance platform and Klasha’s fintech platform.
Strategy, design, branding, and engineering all sit in one team, not spread across separate agencies. Webflow and WordPress builds are part of the web work.
I’d shortlist it for B2B products and large platforms that need a redesign. If you only want a brochure site, its depth and entry price will be too much.
Core Services
- Website design and redesign (Webflow, WordPress, React)
- UI/UX design and UX/UI audits
- Product design and redesign
- Branding and rebranding
- Front-end and back-end development
Why They Rank #5
- Several agencies here hold a perfect client rating on a handful of reviews. Arounda holds its rating across a far larger set, so it is not a fluke.
- Only one agency draws more website visitors, which points to real market pull.
- Its hourly rate is among the lowest on this list, so work costs less per hour.
- Entry cost is its weakest score, since the minimum project size ties for the highest here. That and a middle-of-the-pack operating history keep it behind the top four.
- It ranks fifth because strong ratings, traffic, and a low hourly rate outweigh a steep minimum project size.
Snapshot of Client Reviews
UI and UX skill is the loudest theme, with clients calling the work impressive and high in quality. Clients mention branding and engineering more briefly. Little negative feedback surfaces, and the praise reads steady.
Our Take
Pick Arounda if you run a B2B product or large site that needs a research-led redesign. Plan for a high minimum budget. Skip it for a small brochure site or a first website on a tight budget.
6. Zeitgeist Agency — Choose it when the brand needs defining before the website

- Website: zeitgeist.co
- Minimum Project Cost: $10,000
- Average Client Satisfaction Rating: 4.75 (2,731 reviews)
- Team Size: 5 (LinkedIn)
- Years in Business: 2
- Monthly Website Visits: 3,075
- Employee Review Score: N/A
Overview
Zeitgeist builds brands in a set order: strategy first, then design, then digitalization. The website comes last, once the brand is clearly defined.
Its clients lean toward industrial and mobility companies. One mobility firm keeps it on for ongoing branding, which points to repeat work.
Most of its work serves Austrian companies, where big corporate headquarters set a high bar for polish. Services run from brand workshops and positioning to logos, corporate design, and print.
Technical SEO also appears in its work, usually alongside the digital rollout. I’d shortlist it if you need a brand defined before the site gets built. If you need a large web build, look at a development-heavy team instead.
Core Services
- Web design and digital brand presence
- Brand strategy, workshops, and positioning
- Brand design (logos, corporate design)
- Print, editorial, and packaging design
- Technical SEO
Why They Rank #6
- Only four agencies draw more website visitors, a solid sign of visibility.
- Its review count is the largest on this list by far, so its rating is well supported.
- Its hourly rate sits in the upper tier of this list, so price is not a selling point.
- Operating history is its weakest score, joint-shortest on the list. A client rating below most agencies here also holds it back from the top five.
- It ranks sixth because review depth and traffic outweigh its youth and higher rate.
Snapshot of Client Reviews
Clients say the agency exceeds expectations and offers strategic input beyond the brief. A few note better online presence and SEO results after the work. Reviews stay positive throughout, and no concerns stand out.
Our Take
Choose Zeitgeist if you need a brand built or reset before the website. Expect a higher hourly rate. Skip it for a large custom web build or a long track record.
7. Uhura — A fit for B2B teams that want strategy, content, and build in one place

- Website: uhura.de
- Minimum Project Cost: $10,000
- Average Client Satisfaction Rating: 4.75 (4 reviews)
- Team Size: 21 (LinkedIn)
- Years in Business: 29
- Monthly Website Visits: 188
- Employee Review Score: 3.6 (1 review)
Overview
Uhura calls itself a digital experience agency for B2B brands. Its stated aim is growth through strategy, creation, media, and technology.
Its client mix leans toward energy, technology, finance, and healthcare firms. Public work includes a brand and website for the software company Sieveo and sites for a banking association.
Its toolkit includes HubSpot and marketing automation. It recently deepened a partnership with a UK B2B agency to serve more regions.
I’d consider it if you sell to businesses and want strategy, content, and the build in one place. For a quick consumer-brand site, a lighter studio fits better.
Core Services
- Website design and development (UX/UI, content design)
- Digital strategy and campaigns
- B2B branding and brand design
- Video and motion design
- Marketing automation and HubSpot
Why They Rank #7
- It has the longest operating history on this list.
- Clients rate its value for cost at the very top of the scale, despite a higher hourly rate.
- It is one of only a few agencies with an employee score, but one review proves little.
- Its client rating trails most of the list, and its traffic is low next to the leaders. Together they hold it back from the top five.
- Web design focus is its weakest score, since it is a small part of a broader B2B offer. It ranks seventh on age and value, not on reach or ratings.
Snapshot of Client Reviews
Only a couple of Clutch reviews exist, so the picture is thin. Both are B2B clients, one wanting a corporate identity from scratch and one a multi-site rebuild. Both describe a small, hands-on team.
Our Take
Pick Uhura if you sell to other businesses and want strategy, content, and development from one established team. Pass if you need a fast, low-cost site, or proof of strong online traffic and reviews.
8. TechVerdi — For buyers who need software or AI work next to a website

- Website: techverdi.com
- Minimum Project Cost: $1,000
- Average Client Satisfaction Rating: 4.40 (5 reviews)
- Team Size: 4 (LinkedIn)
- Years in Business: 11
- Monthly Website Visits: 8,987
- Employee Review Score: N/A
Overview
TechVerdi builds on WordPress, Drupal, and custom CMS setups. Angular and Flutter work sits alongside them.
Web design is one service among many. It also does custom software, mobile apps, API work, and digital marketing. That makes it broader than most agencies on this list. In a market where small businesses dominate, that breadth stands out.
Its stated approach runs from ideation and design through development and ongoing support. Its listed expertise includes banking software, CRM, and startup builds.
Its own site now calls it an AI, SaaS, and enterprise software company, not a digital agency.
I’d treat it as a software partner that also builds websites. If web design is the main job, I’d start with a specialist.
Core Services
- Web design and development (WordPress, Drupal, custom CMS)
- Custom software development
- Mobile app development
- AI and machine-learning solutions
- API integration, e-commerce, and digital marketing
Why They Rank #8
- Its website draws the most visitors of any agency on this list, a clear sign of market reach.
- Its minimum project size is among the lowest here, and its hourly rate sits mid-list. Smaller budgets can still get started.
- Web design is a small slice of its work, well below the typical agency here.
- Its client rating is its weakest score, second-lowest on the list, and only a few reviews back it. Both keep it out of the top seven.
- It ranks eighth on reach and easy entry, not on client satisfaction.
Snapshot of Client Reviews
Few reviews exist, and they read alike: smooth projects, a solid team, and results clients would recommend. The pool is too thin to show how the agency handles larger or messier jobs.
Our Take
Choose TechVerdi if you need software or AI work alongside a website on a small budget. Skip it if web design is the whole job, or if you need strong client proof.
9. Sharobella — A boutique pick for online shops built on Shopify

- Website: sharobella.at
- Minimum Project Cost: $10,000
- Average Client Satisfaction Rating: 5.00 (14 reviews)
- Team Size: 6 (LinkedIn)
- Years in Business: 9
- Monthly Website Visits: 50
- Employee Review Score: 5.0 (1 review)
Overview
Sharobella says it treats every project as its own. The pitch is full-cycle work: plan, design, build, then promote and scale.
Michael Elyav leads the agency and comes from e-commerce. He was a co-founder and head of e-commerce at the retailer Firusas by 4Jahreszeiten.
That retailer is also a client, and the list names bwin and PKF too. Its in-house team covers design, development, and marketing.
Today it leans on Shopify and Shopify Plus stores, and it now builds AI-powered software as well. I’d shortlist it if you sell online and want one team from strategy to promotion. A larger enterprise may want more bench strength.
Core Services
- E-commerce and web design (Shopify, Shopify Plus)
- Web development
- UI/UX design
- Marketing, SEO, and technical maintenance
- AI-powered software
Why They Rank #9
- A perfect client rating rests on a modest review pool, solid but far shallower than the top five’s.
- It also holds a top employee score from one review, so it is a hint, not proof.
- Clients rate its value for cost below most agencies here.
- Traffic is its weakest score, since its site draws far fewer visitors than the agencies above it. That gap keeps it out of the top eight.
- It ranks ninth on ratings alone, with little reach behind them.
Snapshot of Client Reviews
A single Clutch review praises clear communication and same-day changes. It also credits a Shopify build that brought in customers after a failed run with another agency. Google ratings echo the note on speed and teamwork. Nothing negative appears.
Our Take
Hire Sharobella if you run an online shop and want strategy, Shopify, and promotion from one team. Pass if you need large-scale enterprise capacity or a long public review record.
10. Werbeagentur DMP — Made for technical and industrial products that need animation and web together

- Website: agentur-dmp.de
- Minimum Project Cost: $1,000
- Average Client Satisfaction Rating: 5.00 (2 reviews)
- Team Size: 1 (LinkedIn)
- Years in Business: 24
- Monthly Website Visits: 8
- Employee Review Score: N/A
Overview
Werbeagentur DMP serves B2B and industrial firms, especially in technology and sustainable energy. Its pitch is a full-service partner that makes complex technical products easy to grasp.
It runs its own AI brand, artmis.io, for sales content, lead generation, and sales enablement.
The team says it works with creative precision, open collaboration, and long-term brand care. Clients sit across Germany, Austria, and Switzerland, with some work for wider international markets.
In that DACH market, agencies from several countries compete for the same clients. Janine and Michael Wald started the agency. Its name, Digital Motion Picture, points back to animation.
I’d shortlist it if you make technical products that need animation, film, or a clear web presence. For a standard small-business site, it is a poor match.
Core Services
- Websites, landing pages, and digital campaigns
- 2D/3D animation and product visualization
- Corporate design, brochures, and presentations
- Film production and VR
- AI strategy and automation (artmis.io)
Why They Rank #10
- Its long operating history is its strongest score, second only to Uhura on this list.
- Clients rate its value for cost at the top of the scale. Its minimum project size is also among the lowest here.
- Its hourly rate is mid-list, so a long record does not come with a premium price.
- Reach is its weakest score. Its website draws almost no visitors, and the review pool behind its perfect rating is tiny.
- Thin visibility and a tiny review base keep it out of the top nine. It ranks tenth on longevity and low cost, not on market presence.
Snapshot of Client Reviews
Two perfect ratings on file are all that is public. With so few, read them as a sign of satisfied clients, not a verdict on quality. Ask for references directly.
Our Take
Pick DMP if you sell technical products and need animation, film, and web content from a specialist. Skip it for a small local-business site, or if you need proof from many public reviews.
11. Studio Ubique — A steady pick for startups that want design, build, and hosting together

- Website: studioubique.com
- Minimum Project Cost: $1,000
- Average Client Satisfaction Rating: 4.95 (41 reviews)
- Team Size: 9 (LinkedIn)
- Years in Business: 14
- Monthly Website Visits: 528
- Employee Review Score: N/A
Overview
Studio Ubique builds mostly on WordPress and Shopify, with React for heavier front-end work. It also takes on mobile apps and custom software.
Its process tests the foundation first. Competitor audits, user input, and content mapping feed the wireframes and flows before anyone opens a design tool.
It works mostly with startups, scale-ups, and mid-sized companies.
Lennart de Ridder founded it after years in his father’s printing business and at publicity agencies. It began as a one-person practice.
I’d shortlist it if you want clear pricing and one team that also hosts the site. If you need a large enterprise rollout, check its capacity first.
Core Services
- Web design (UX/UI, wireframes, prototypes)
- Web development (WordPress, Shopify, React)
- Mobile apps and custom software
- Hosting and ongoing support
- Marketing and SEO
Why They Rank #11
- Clients rate its value for cost at the typical level here. Its entry price is among the lowest, so small projects can start.
- Its review pool is deep for this ranking, and the rating behind it is steady.
- Its operating history is longer than most on this list, which counts in its favor.
- Web design focus is its weakest score, a small share of its work next to development and hosting.
- Low focus and modest traffic keep it out of the top ten. It ranks eleventh on age and review depth, not on web design commitment.
Snapshot of Client Reviews
Long relationships stand out here. Clients stay for years, praise the team for spotting problems early, and say the price felt fair. A few add that the technical depth covers apps and custom software, not only websites.
Our Take
Pick Studio Ubique if you want design, build, and hosting from one team at a clear price. Skip it if you need a web design specialist or a large enterprise rollout.
12. Design Agency — A 360 option for media and e-commerce projects

- Website: designagency.gr
- Minimum Project Cost: $5,000
- Average Client Satisfaction Rating: 4.83 (66 reviews)
- Team Size: 11 (LinkedIn)
- Years in Business: 12
- Monthly Website Visits: 554
- Employee Review Score: N/A
Overview
The Design Agency lives by one line: good design is good business. It pairs that with a 360 offer, from branding and web design to video and apps.
George Pantoulas and Elias Letsios co-founded it, with George as chief visionary and Elias as technical lead.
Its web services include e-shop design, email marketing, Google My Business, and SEO. News portals and e-shops show up often, including sites for news and media platforms.
It now also sells AI solutions and AI video production.
I’d shortlist it if you want one agency for branding, a site, and content. If you only need a focused web design partner, its range may feel scattered.
Core Services
- Website and e-shop design
- Branding and graphic design
- SEO, email marketing, and Google My Business
- Video production and animation (including AI video)
- Mobile app development
Why They Rank #12
- A large review pool backs its rating, which is deep for this ranking.
- Clients rate its value for cost at the top of the scale, with a mid-range hourly rate.
- Its site draws more visitors than most agencies here, though far fewer than the leaders.
- Client rating is its weakest score, below most agencies on this list despite the volume.
- A below-average rating and ordinary web focus keep it out of the top ten. It ranks twelfth on volume and value, not on rating.
Snapshot of Client Reviews
Reviews describe a team that takes on full projects: sites, SEO, social media, even a native app. Clients come from media and software. Feedback is warm, though Clutch shows only a handful of reviews.
Our Take
Pick Design Agency for a media or e-commerce project that needs branding, a site, and content. Skip it if you need a web design specialist or the strongest client ratings.
13. acolono — The Drupal specialist for institutional and content-heavy sites

- Website: acolono.com
- Minimum Project Cost: $25,000
- Average Client Satisfaction Rating: 4.85 (12 reviews)
- Team Size: 16 (LinkedIn)
- Years in Business: 11
- Monthly Website Visits: 33
- Employee Review Score: 5.0 (1 review)
Overview
acolono builds on Drupal and little else. Its pitch is accessible, responsive sites that stay easy to maintain.
It also writes online style guides, so design rules travel with the site.
Its client list leans toward public institutions, media, and nonprofits. Named clients include OSCE, the Red Cross, Doctors Without Borders, and the TV network PULS 24. It relaunched the Doctors Without Borders site on Drupal, with data migration and SEO work.
It has also been nominated for Drupal’s regional Splash Awards, including for a PULS 24 frontend relaunch.
I’d pick it if you run a content-heavy or institutional site on Drupal. If you want a quick template site on another platform, it is the wrong fit.
Core Services
- Drupal web design and development
- Drupal consulting
- Accessible, responsive front-end and online style guides
- SEO and web analytics
- Hosting and maintenance
Why They Rank #13
- Web work is a big share of what it sells, well above the typical agency here.
- A top employee score rests on a single review, so it adds little confidence.
- Cost is its weakest score. The hourly rate sits in the upper tier, and the minimum project size ties for the highest. Clients also rate its value for cost below most.
- Its site draws few visitors. A modest review pool also sits behind a rating below most of the list. Both keep it out of the top twelve.
- It ranks thirteenth on focus alone, not on price or reach.
Snapshot of Client Reviews
The open source commitment gets the praise here. Clients single out the team’s flexibility with other tools. The two Clutch reviews cover a nonprofit site relaunch with data migration and SEO, and ongoing maintenance for a SaaS firm.
Our Take
Pick acolono if you run a content-heavy or institutional Drupal site and can meet a high minimum budget. Skip it for small budgets, other platforms, or if you need strong public traffic and review proof.
14. ARTLAMA — A small, GDPR-minded team for modest business sites

- Website: artlama.at
- Minimum Project Cost: $1,000
- Average Client Satisfaction Rating: 5.00 (2 reviews)
- Team Size: 1 (LinkedIn)
- Years in Business: 3
- Monthly Website Visits: 0
- Employee Review Score: N/A
Overview
ARTLAMA treats GDPR compliance, deadlines, and budgets as fixed rules. Its sites are built to be scalable and easy to maintain.
Diana is the lead designer and developer, working with a small international team.
The agency once served clients worldwide. Today it focuses on companies in Austria, where it pitches knowledge of local business structures. That fits a market where international bodies and large firms bring compliance-minded clients.
Its process runs from the first idea through MVP, testing, and full build, with marketing after launch. A long-running client uses it across several projects.
I’d consider it if you want a small, hands-on team for a compliant business site. If you need a large agency bench, this is not it.
Core Services
- Website design and development
- GDPR-compliant site builds
- MVP and digital product development
- Website administration and maintenance
- Marketing support
Why They Rank #14
- Its hourly rate is among the lowest here. So is its entry price, so budgets can stay small.
- Web design is about half of its business, among the highest shares on this list.
- Clients rate its value for cost below most agencies, the one soft spot in an otherwise clean rating.
- Operating history and reach are its weakest scores. It has one of the shortest track records and almost no traffic. Only a tiny review base backs its perfect rating.
- Those gaps keep it out of the top thirteen. It ranks fourteenth on focus and low cost, not on proof.
Snapshot of Client Reviews
A handful of ratings, all positive, make up the review record, mostly for website administration and builds. Nothing negative appears, but there is too little detail to judge the process or results. Check references before you commit.
Our Take
Pick ARTLAMA if you want a small, hands-on team for a compliant business site on a modest budget. Skip it if you need a deep bench, a long track record, or lots of public proof.
15. PIKOBARA — A creative marketing team that also builds websites

- Website: pikobara.at
- Minimum Project Cost: $1,000
- Average Client Satisfaction Rating: 5.00 (8 reviews)
- Team Size: 12 (LinkedIn)
- Years in Business: 7
- Monthly Website Visits: 0
- Employee Review Score: N/A
Overview
PIKOBARA leans toward food and drink brands. Its work includes digital marketing for a natural food maker and a web platform for a spirits distributor. The spirits platform is among its latest launches.
The team states its rules as confidence, respect, and partnership, with equal opportunity for clients, staff, and partners. The Manifest ranks it first among social media marketing companies on its regional lists.
It is a creative marketing agency first, with web design and development as one part of the mix. I’d shortlist it if you want a creative campaign and a website from the same team. If a website is the whole job, a web specialist fits better.
Core Services
- Web design and development
- Brand development and strategy
- Creative marketing campaigns
- Social media and influencer marketing
- Video and design production, plus events
Why They Rank #15
- Its team is larger than most at this end of the list, so it can run several projects.
- Clients rate its value for cost at the top of the scale. Its hourly rate is mid-range and its entry price among the lowest.
- A perfect client rating rests on a small review pool, so it reads as promising, not proven.
- Web design focus is its weakest score, a small slice of a marketing-led business. Its site also draws almost no tracked visitors.
- Both gaps keep it out of the top fourteen. It ranks fifteenth on value and team size, not on web design focus or reach.
Snapshot of Client Reviews
Scores are perfect across timeliness, service, and value, though only a few reviews exist. Clients came from marketing and food businesses and bought digital strategy and campaigns more than websites. Details are limited.
Our Take
Pick PIKOBARA if you want creative marketing and a website from one small team. It suits food and drink brands best. Skip it if you need a pure web design specialist or deep public proof of results.
Disclosure: Our recommendations include both locally headquartered agencies and offshore firms that provide services in this region. Some agencies featured do not maintain a physical office here but have an established track record of delivering services to clients in the area.
How to Narrow Down Your Web Design Company Options
A polished homepage tells you almost nothing about how a web design agency works. Evidence does. Use these six checks to turn a crowded market into a shortlist you can defend.
1. Test the Portfolio on Your Phone
Open their recent projects on your phone, not on a pitch deck. Slow loading and cramped layouts show up in seconds. Good UI/UX Design feels obvious, and most Vienna agencies now build mobile-first. So a weak phone result is a real warning.
2. Ask What the Quote Includes
Web design projects in Vienna can run from €1,500 to €120,000, so a headline price says little. Ask what sits inside it: pages, copy, revisions, hosting, and support. Agencies that publish their packages make this easy. Get the scope in writing.
3. Look for Real SEO Skill
A good site still has to be found, and people here search in both German and English. Ask how the agency handles on-page SEO, site speed, and secure hosting. Vague answers are a bad sign. Request a ranking result you can check yourself.
4. Check How They Communicate
German is the main business language here, so confirm which language your project runs in. Find out who your day-to-day contact is and how fast they reply.
A marketing manager should get plain updates, not jargon. Slow answers before you sign rarely speed up later.
5. Plan for What Comes Next
Think about what you’ll add next: a shop, a second language, a bigger team. If a shop is next, compare e-commerce website design companies or Shopify development agencies. Ask about Austrian and EU compliance too. A site that scales saves you a second invoice.
6. Weigh Local Expertise Honestly
Find out whether an agency sits in Vienna or only serves it. Local teams are easier to meet and often know Austrian rules well. Remote agencies can be just as strong, as our web design agencies directory shows. Pick based on what your project needs.
Avoid These Mistakes Before Hiring a Web Design Company
Most bad agency choices fail in the same few places. I’d rather you spot them now than pay to learn them later. These eight cover the costliest ones for buyers here.
Choosing on Price Alone
Price searches like “Webdesign Preise Wien” are common, so cheap quotes grab attention fast. But a low number often leaves out copy, revisions, or hosting. Run any quote through a cost calculator before you reply. Then compare scope, not just the total.
Ignoring SEO Until After Launch
Google dominates search here, and local listings drive plenty of discovery. A site nobody finds is just an expensive brochure. Treat search engine optimization as part of the build, not an add-on. Ask about site speed, secure hosting, and a Google Business Profile.
Skipping the Real Portfolio Review
English searches surface directories like Clutch and GoodFirms first. A listing is not proof of good work. Open the live sites behind it and click around. If an agency won’t show real projects, I’d move on.
Not Checking References
Many Vienna businesses still hire by word of mouth and local reputation. You can borrow that habit. Ask a past client how the project went, then read recent online reviews. Praise and complaints both show up there.
Overlooking Mobile
Many SME sites here are outdated and not built mobile-first. That costs them leads every day. Check any agency’s work on a small screen before you sign. A site that frustrates phone users loses them fast.
Having No Support Plan
Hosting, maintenance, and SEO costs surprise buyers who budget only for the build. Ask what happens after launch, in writing, and whether website maintenance is included.
Find out who fixes bugs and who updates plugins. A cheap launch can turn into an expensive year.
Forgetting the Legal Basics
Every Austrian site needs GDPR (DSGVO) care, cookie consent, and a proper Impressum page. If you sell or take bookings online, Austria’s accessibility law (BaFG) may also apply. Ask the agency how it handles each one.
Not Asking Who Owns the Site
Ask who owns the domain, the source code, and any premium licenses. Find out whether you can move to another host. These answers decide your options if the relationship ends. Get them in writing before the first invoice.
Final Thoughts
Start with the ranking, then narrow it by fit. The top spots show who scores best on the same data, not who suits every project.
Read each Our Take line against your own budget and goals. If you sell into the DACH region, compare web design agencies in Germany, Switzerland, and Hamburg.
The market is also shifting. Agencies that already handle structured data and clear entity information are better placed as AI search grows. So ask about it when you talk to web design companies in Vienna.
OneLittleWeb also offers web design services, so we kept ourselves out of this ranking. We plan to refresh the list as new ratings and review counts arrive.
Until then, shortlist a few agencies and ask each for a written scope. Compare the answers side by side.
Behind the Rankings: Our Evaluation Process
Why This Ranking Is Different
Most agency roundups lean on editorial opinion, self-reported claims, or paid placement. That makes it hard to tell why one agency sits above another.
This ranking works differently. It uses one repeatable scoring framework, applied the same way to every agency.
Every web design agency serving Vienna went through the same scorecard. Physical location is not a ranking factor, and no agency gets extra points for being local. No agency paid for inclusion or a higher position.
Scored metrics are separate from qualitative research. Service pages, portfolios, case studies, notable clients, awards, and partnerships help us write each profile.
Certifications, technical expertise, local presence, proprietary processes, and media mentions do too. None of them add or subtract points unless they match a weighted metric below.
Where Your Data Comes From
We collected the data independently during 2026, using public sources for every agency. SEMrush gave us estimated monthly website traffic. It is an estimate, so we use it to compare agencies, not to measure them exactly.
Clutch, DesignRush, G2, Google Business Profile, and Trustpilot supplied client ratings and review counts. Glassdoor and Indeed supplied employee ratings and employee review volume. LinkedIn gave us each agency’s team size.
Agency websites and other public sources covered services, pricing, hourly rates, minimum project size, and business history.
We also read service pages, portfolios, case studies, public client examples, awards, partnerships, and certifications. That confirmed each agency’s web design capabilities and gave context for the profiles.
Unless represented by one of the weighted metrics below, these qualitative findings do not affect the numerical score.
The Five Dimensions That Shape Your Rankings
Each agency is scored across five weighted areas. Positive categories add points, while pricing metrics apply deductions for higher cost barriers.
1. Web Design Focus & Value Assessment (20%)
This category measures how central web design is to the agency’s offering. It also reflects how clients rate the value they received relative to cost.
| Metric | Weight | How We Calculated It |
| Web Design Focus | 10% | Web design appeared as a core agency service |
| Client Rating for Cost | 10% | Average cost/value rating from selected review platforms |
Agencies benefit when web design is central to their business and clients report strong value for money.
2. Brand Authority (45%)
Brand Authority measures visibility, scale, and operating history.
| Metric | Weight | How We Calculated It |
| Website Traffic | 20% | Higher estimated SEMrush traffic contributed more points |
| LinkedIn Team Size | 15% | Larger teams contributed more points |
| Years in Business | 10% | Longer operating histories contributed more points |
These metrics work as comparative signals of market presence, delivery capacity, and operating stability. They do not mean a larger agency is automatically better.
3. Client Satisfaction (30%)
This category combines rating quality with review volume.
| Metric | Weight | How We Calculated It |
| Average Client Rating | 15% | Combined ratings from selected review platforms |
| Total Client Reviews | 15% | Greater review volume contributed more confidence to the score |
A high rating backed by many reviews outweighs the same rating from only a few.
4. Employee Satisfaction (25%)
Employee sentiment adds a signal about how stable an agency is.
| Metric | Weight | How We Calculated It |
| Average Employee Rating | 10% | Average rating from Glassdoor and Indeed |
| Number of Employee Reviews | 15% | Greater review volume reduced the influence of very small samples |
Both the rating and the number of employee reviews matter. A strong score from a handful of reviews tells us less than the same score from many.
5. Cost Accessibility Adjustment (-20%)
This is the only category that subtracts points. It lowers scores as the cost of getting started goes up.
| Metric | Weight | How We Calculated It |
| Hourly Rate | -10% | Higher hourly rates received larger deductions |
| Minimum Project Cost | -10% | Higher entry costs reduced accessibility scores |
This does not mean expensive agencies provide worse work. It only accounts for how accessible each agency is across a wider range of budgets. Because the combined adjustment can reach 20 points, it can move an agency’s position.
How the Final Score Works
Each metric is normalized, weighted, and combined into a score out of 100.
Positive metrics contribute up to 120 points. The Cost Accessibility Adjustment can deduct up to 20 points, based on hourly rate and minimum project cost.
No single metric decides an agency’s ranking. Larger agencies may gain from stronger traffic, team size, or longevity. Smaller agencies may excel in client satisfaction, employee sentiment, web design focus, value, or affordability.
Only the weighted metrics affect rankings. Awards, clients, partnerships, certifications, and case studies may appear in agency profiles.
So may portfolio quality, local presence, technical expertise, proprietary processes, and media mentions. None of them change a score on their own.
This framework lets us compare agencies of different sizes, pricing models, and market positions on equal terms.
Note: All rankings and scores are based solely on publicly available data collected at the time of publication. These rankings reflect the market landscape at the time of publication. Although individual metrics may change over time, the evaluation framework prioritizes long-term capability signals, making major ranking fluctuations unlikely.
